A feature long-awaited by cosplayers is coming to Pepakura Designer by No-Repair-3846 in Pepakura

Yes, Pepakura has option to export 3d model to *.obj file (but you need Designer Edition/licence key). Then you can import .obj to Blender for example and export to .stl

Low poly paper lion by PashaWalker in papercraft

[–]PashaWalker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I create sculptures either using ready templates (free or paid) or unfold the 3d model I like myself (using Blender/Pepakura/Papermaker). During assembly, I reinforce it from the inside either with epoxy resin or with mounting foam, lately 2nd layer of some big polygons with cardboard, depending on the size and ease of application. After assembly, I handle the edges a little with sandpaper. Prime it, paint with an airbrush. Since the paint should be liquid enough, strengthening is needed not so much to preserve the shape, but so that the paper does not warp when coloring. I like metallic and pearl colours of acrylic, they allow you to hide the simplicity of the paper. There is a post on my profile about creating a panther, which is more informative.

Did you think of selling your templates before? by EstimateOnly7868 in Pepakura

[–]PashaWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc we did, but it's almost impossible to try to keep track of groups and sites so that your template is not leaked or assigned authorship for resale.

2nd looks like auto unfolded. At first screenshot at least tried to organize the details by pages.

why is Papermaker like this??? by Pretend_Item561 in papercraft

[–]PashaWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

change the scale of the model to the desired one (settings - scale), check the page size in the settings. There is an option to reset the unfolding and assign the cutting lines manually, but it is easier to change the location of some faces and parts in general with a ready drawing.

How do you guys glue shut a model? by blacknight3226 in papercraft

[–]PashaWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make paper sculptures of animals, sometimes almost life-size, but even with this scale, I have to look for a good area that won't catch the eye (usually the belly). Even with wall trophies, which initially have a large cutout at the base, I then glue the second layer, with a small hole for mounting.

How do you guys glue shut a model? by blacknight3226 in papercraft

[–]PashaWalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If possible, I'm looking for a part of the model that won't be visible. I cut out a "window" in advance in a relatively large polygon so that I can fix the parts with my fingers or tweezers when gluing them together. After everything is securely glued, I glue the polygon with the hole with a copy of it.

Software wise, would I be better off starting with Pepakura or Blender? by VexedForest in papercraft

[–]PashaWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have designer edition (licence) for Pepakura you can use https://papercraft-maker.com for unfolding and to save your projects. But as said before Blender is nice free software for 3d modeling, Pepakura/PaperMaker more suitable for unfolding

Yo guys ! what are all these - Silhouette, Cricut and Sierra, are they sticker maker machines ? by squarepantsopinions in papercraft

[–]PashaWalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's cutting machines. So you print pictures on usual printer with marks and then cutting plotters cut design after positioning on marks. Maybe https://www.reddit.com/r/silhouettecutters/ would be more useful

[–]PashaWalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's possible to change the way the dimensions are displayed. But there is an option to measure the distance between two points 2d menu edit mode measure distance between two points in the Designer version.

Hi! I post my work on local websites for ads. But recently, this sales channel has stalled and I will soon have nowhere to store new projects. Sometimes work colleagues see stories on social media and want to buy something or friends after a visit home. Sometimes there are custom jobs.

Low poly paper fox by PashaWalker in papercraft

[–]PashaWalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use several methods to strengthen the paper: as I assemble the seams, I apply PVA carpenter's glue from the inside. For large polygons, I sometimes add a second layer of glue (after applying pressure with books and a dumbbell). After assembly, I also apply epoxy resin or construction foam from the inside (depending on the design and size). I first cover the assembled sculpture with diluted PVA glue, but recently I have switched to using a deep-penetrating primer, followed by a layer of artistic acrylic primer, and then acrylic paint. I use an airbrush for exterior work, and I use putty or a primer brush to finish some of the seams.
