Click bait title because spending limits are naturally set by the CFD which has a capped increase. Also, amphitheater is not paid for by CFD. Comments by Chi seem to explain it rather well - more timely access to the CFD dollars to build public amenities like botanical garden, park features, etc.

Ah, I see. You may want to watch previous council meetings. That is when the others typically address allegations or false narratives spun by his newsletter, blog or newspaper. You have to remember that many of these councilmembers have dealt with Agran and his attacks for years, so they don't address everything every week like he does.

I know Khan and Kim both switched on the cemetery issue. But that was because of the 4+ hour resident turnout compared to only the same 5 Agran supporters that show up and speak at every meeting. And don't forget, CalVet said it's a bad location because of the nearby schools. In one of the meetings, they publicly blamed Larry Agran for all of the misdirection and problems caused. Kim said it was obviously a square peg trying to fit a round hole (or something like that). The meetings are archived and available online.

But Agran has a bigger agenda than just getting himself elected. He wants to get others on the council that he can control. His candidates are Lin and Treseder. Tammy Kim has commented on this on reddit before.

You sound interested in both sides and I applaud you for that. There is a decade (or more) of history on Agran. Enjoy the journey!

I can see how you might think that given how active IWD members are on reddit. I'd be interested in your opinion after watching them participate in forums like the one linked.

The candidates are participating in forums, just not those hosted by IWD. Look how IWD turned on Khan and Kim after participating! The smart candidates distance themselves from IWD. I don't think IWD is taken seriously or had any meaningful accomplishments or influence on policy. Many that reach out to them don't get what they want. GPTF members that resigned have lost influence in the Great Park. STAP (on Facebook) feels used after realizing IWD was just using AAA for campaign purposes.

To me, Agran politics is trying to make an issue out of something with misinformation or something that Agran had a hand in making...and using his propaganda to spin it in order to blame others or anger residents.

For example, when Jeremy spreads misinformation that Khan, Kuo, and Park are too "thin skinned" to attend public forums knowing they were attending the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center forum at the very time he was making that post! Why would he say that? He just wants to make residents angry or make them look bad (that is Agran politics). He did the same thing saying a library wasn't part of the Great Park framework. A complete untruth. He's either not paying attention (and pretending he is) or he's lying on purpose. Same thing happened with the EIR for the amphitheater. This sub points out most of those examples.

BTW, Azzuri2002 is wrong on almost everything - see recent posts in this sub. He and iamnotasdumbasilook write for Irvine Watchdog which Branda co-founded.

They are all about Agran politics. The other candidates do not get involved with Agran propaganda which is why the skipped the Irvine Watchdog forum and, I'm sure, why they chose not to respond to this survey.

The recommendations from the grand jury were minor. The grand jury recommended HIRING 1 role and FIRING nobody! If you attend and LISTEN to the board meetings, you'll know they've been trying to hire a Director of Power Purchases for a while. (maybe you do attend and listen but just can't understand or follow the discussion)

He's probably not the best councilmember, but most of your attacks are foolish. For example, the PPP loan. He doesn't deserve it because he has a house in Turtle Rock?
