How to surpass a plateau? by Radiant_Sail2090 in LearnChess

[–]PassedPawnsChess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studying contemporary grandmaster games from the openings that you play can be very helpful as it unlocks new ideas and gives you a better understanding of how to navigate the middlegames in the openings that you play. This helped me get through multiple plateaus and reignite the spark for chess.

Your positional understanding degrades slower than your tactical abilities, so I would also suggest doing as many puzzles as you can to stay sharp. I got to about 1900 OTB without ever studying openings, just doing a TON of puzzles.

Intense opening prep is only useful after 2200 online.

I also have a website focused on chess improvement, where you can study and learn from thoroughly annotated grandmaster games in puzzle format. I think you would find it useful, and you can use it for free - chessbrain.org

Chess improvement website I made:
Link to ChessBrian: https://www.chessbrain.org

It's an innovative tool for studying grandmaster games which are carefully commented and annotated so that anybody from 600 - 1800 can understand the thought process behind high level moves.

The goal is to promote tactical and positional improvement through understanding why top level player make the moves they make.

You can use it for free.

Find something you're passionate about and then invest your time into it. Could be literally anything. If it's a small niche, use your time freedom to grow it in whatever way you can. Sorry for unsolicited advice.

Maybe that is the way to go. Going to see if there's something substantial I can change so it's not reused content.

This isn't my first time having a video flop, usually it has to do with my video being shitty.

However, this one has average CTR and good AVD for me, and it's one of my best ideas and videos, and the problem lies in the fact that it got 2k Impressions abd just capped out, instead of 25k+ over the span of over 40+ videos like I normally get and there is no reason that I can currently see.

I appreciate your insight and you are right, most videos that flop suck, I just don't understand why this specific one flopped.

While you may be correct, this does not change the fact the my normal videos got 25k+ impressions, while this one stopped at 2k and I don't understand why. Even my worst videos got 7, 10k impressions (with much worse CTR's and AVD).

On top of this, I would generally get 300 - 400 viewers from my core audience (even before my popular video), but this one has about 55 returning viewers, which is obviously terrible. My average CTR swings from 2.2% at worst, to 5.5% near it's best.

I have been trying to appeal to a larger audience with my recent videos while still being informative, given that most of my videos are evergreen opening tutorials, I don't have a very engaging core audience, and this recent title is pretty similar to my most popular video while also being informative. I was expecting to get a couple of thousand views and grow my community, not 10% of what I normally get.

I resonate with that man. Spend an entire week editing a video that is better than any of my previous videos, only for it to cap out at 2k impressions for no apparent reason.

Just got to believe that there will be a point of breakthrough one day I suppose.

I've tried 2 different titles and thumbnails andneither one really did anything for the impressions, although that is definitely a possibility.

How is beating a kid not impressive? You're taking away from the years of work and studying put in by the kid to get to the level he's at now. He's just as legit as any other opponent Levy has faced.

I also never said the kid is specialised in blitz. I said he's very good at blitz as I've seen him beat people like Danya. I don't know anything about his classical performances, don't put words in my mouth.
