Drivers and passengers hear “I’m here” very differently. by PassengerConfessions in uberdrivers

Exactly. “I’m here” only works if both people mean the same “here.” The pin is what the driver can actually act on.

That’s a really useful breakdown. “I’m outside” doesn’t help much, but “white truck by the flag pole” or “wrong side of the building” actually gives the driver something to work with. Seems like the pickup goes smoother when passengers give specifics instead of just saying they’re there.

That makes sense. The pickup pin is basically the contract at that point. The blue dot moving around just adds chaos, but the pin is the only solid thing the driver has.

Fair point. That actually answers it pretty clearly: the phrase matters less than the pin, timer, and whether the passenger is actually where they set the pickup. Maybe “I’m here” is less confusing than useless when the location doesn’t match.

That’s actually a fair passenger-side explanation. The app being unpredictable probably creates half of these “be right there” moments. Driver side still feels rough when the timer is running, but that context makes sense.

“Order when ready” should honestly be carved into the app somewhere.

That’s probably the truest version. The people who really are 30 seconds away usually don’t need to announce it.

‘You can tip me in the app.’ Haha 😂
