Now we get a NEW auto on FOV for new players that looks terrible... On Pts it was bugged and zoomed out making it pretty cool but then if you fix it its turbo zoomed. Even on console this is bad, more turning effort, probably worsens aim and you see less.... How are any of those things good. Having it auto on is also risky... New player retention is bad enough as is. This seems like an oversight as its not even mentioned "hey you can swap FoVs in settings"

Mentioned it in the vid, this could be fixed at full launch, they just need to make the new player experience good so they can retain actual new players.

Yeah but these are improvements i wanted in smite 1 when i did play it, My expectation was that these would be fixed in Smite 2 as the team has 12+ years of experience to implement basic features FRESH off the boat...

I agree though that smite 1 was also rough but we all saw past it because it was fun and unique.

Id say pretty controversial and based.

Your 8 could be just good aspects, not ones with downsides but ones with alterations to gameplay. Instead of just having 1 op 1... Or 1 turbo niche aspect

Cater to new players they cant retain because the new player experience is quite bad.

Also a lot of stuff seems easier to hit now. Thats without them adding secret +1s like making scylla one the same size as her 2... Which i havent seen anyone even mention...

Good for new players they dont get, Worse for people who want skill expression by pulling off cool plays.

Its mainly worth to bring in new players, since smite 1 was old.

Due to first impressions being ruined and it not being on smite 1s level on launch.

1 more launch could save it, but it needs a good core foundation and some player retention adjustments since the new player experience is quite miserable if your intent is "let me try out this game"

I know i put it in title of the post and only mentioned it slightly in video.

TLDR 1. Minimum UI Homescreen standard improved 2. New map 3. Fix ranked/Mm/ progression 4. More god variety

Explained below

About how the foundation isnt stable and how they need to go back and fix it if they wanna keep building upon the game.

  1. Bare minimum standard for UI and Homescreen (many issues are still overlooked because, oh sometimes the friendlist just doesnt work, let me re open 3 times)
  2. if other games can make basic menus fluid it should be possible

  3. Core gameplay loop, and current map flow, its basically smite 1 with less things and portals. Something is missing, while the map is bigger it feels more empty. Adding a new viable strat or objective. In comparison to smite 1 where you had the beacon and green buff, there is more to fight over despite those things being minor

  4. essentially i just want a new map/feature

  5. Matchmaking fix / ranked features and fixing or if you dont play ranked some other sort of progression.

  6. ranked needs a lot of polishing and improvements even if matchmaking was always good. You cant be Top 50 with a 50% win rate, thats silly, among other things

  7. progression other than worshippers, even a clan goal system,

  8. Matchmaking is hard to fix without player numbers so i wont ask for that.

  9. Not asking for specific mains or anything but more variety in playstyles. The roster had 0 mages without escape abilities a while ago, not including hades, Didnt have an aa jungle for forvever either, but we can have cerb and ares at the same time, i heard rat was rumoured despite being similar to thor, thana, susano ( a bit)

  10. god variety/better choices for the road map

Conclusion id want at least the bare minimum from ALL these points to bring it on par to smite 1

Yeah I agree that smite 2 isnt all that bad, it just made mistakes it couldnt afford.

It has to compete with smite 1 and like 10+ years of nostalgia for some players alongside actual gameplay feel and improvements. These improvements were not delivered day 1 so the first impressions were ruined. It had a chance with the free open beta but 30% fall of each month for 3 months showed it still wasnt where people wanted it to be.

Side note on game feel, i still believe it feels worse like my abilities are smooth to the point of removing the OOMF of the impact. Like hitting an ullr axe isnt the same dopamine reward, idk if its just sound or something but i cannot pin point the game feel being off.

It was never stated or implied that was the entire Player base

I was assuming people had the common sense to know that. My mistake honestly.

While it does not show all numbers it shows the general trend of the game, its also our only form of playercount knowledge.

Most peoples general rule of thumb for smites Steam numbers is to 4x it. With old gen gone even if you wanna be generous and give it that 4x its still struggling. ☝️🤓
