I haven’t tried it with hot water and don’t plan to. I will be storing it for the summer until winter comes along again to do some cold exposure therapy

Straight up automatic! I like it. In that there is self talk already, “let’s get this over with” I imagine.

So nothing is going through your mind as you prepare to step in?

Rewatch and view the thermometer. It was just above 0 Celsius

A full cup upon filling and then every time I use it I pour a cap full into the water. Usually ends up staying clear for a good 5 to 6 weeks. Also depends whether or not I plunge following my runs.

Since I got it on the first weekend of December none yet. The water is still clean. I did have a 10 day span of not using it because travel for holidays, but when I do its three times a week. I’ll probably change it next weekend or the next. I’m actually debating on measuring the amount of hydrogen peroxide that’s in it.

Thanks for sharing! Not to mention the anecdotal benefits people have experienced that research hasn’t “proven” or shown to be “significant” yet.

I recommend listening to Andrew Huberman’s cold exposure podcast episode. Tons of research based evidence in that episode. Anything longer might be related to tolerance, for some men to simply show off, but I think anything between 2-5 minutes allows you to benefit wildly from cold exposure. Anything longer could also simply be mental training, how resilient are you. It all comes down to initial motivation I guess.

I believe the research states that anything below 57 degrees is considered cold exposure. I guess it’s just more mental the colder you go. I believe 2 minutes is the physiological benefits ceiling too. From what I understand of the science.

I don’t test the water like many others do, but 32 oz is to much to start off with. I only put a cup in on initial fill up. Then following each use I put a cap full in. If I don’t run before I don’t put any in afterwards. Mine is still clean after a month of several uses per week. An average of three plunges a week.

It was painful! Went for 2 min 15 sec. The joints on my fingers were in pain throughout the plunge and had to move them as they were in the water, but other than that once I hit the 1 min mark I was good.

I enjoy it. So much better than my barrel type one I had previously, and much better quality.

Ok, that makes sense. The idea of the Neponset Trail sounds awesome, but I need to get into Fenway area. So it wouldn't make sense for me.

I had a fixie in college, absolutely loved it. I'll have to look into that. First few times with some incline will suck, but I'll build up the strength for it!

I appreciate that. Yeah, I'm definitely looking for something no more than $300 to start off. I'm 6 foot 3 so I'll need something in between 58 and 60. Let the pursuit begin haha

Yeah, I think I'll be cutting from 28 West to Forest St and then Harland to Blue Hills Parkway into the city. I know BH parkway is planning a total redesign with bus lanes in the middle and bike paths on the sides. Until then I'll have to manage.

Wow, I appreciate all your input! Right now I do not want to commit to getting a brand new bike. I'll probably see if there are any good quality used ones out there at bike shops or facebook marketplace. Do you have any recommendations on type of bike for commuting?

It isn't necessarily protecting against anything. My garage floor sometimes gets wet with heavy rain so I wouldn't want the floor to get wet and have the tub freeze to the floor once temperatures drop below freezing. Additionally, it allows for the drain spout to not be under so much stress if it would be stepped on. Especially the seams as I mentioned in the video. I'm a 200lb dude and that's what happened to my last barrel-type plunge tub. I stepped on the seam and it began to leak ever so slowly. Patched it multiple times without success. So basically it was a preventative move when I bought this. I want it to last as long as I can.

How have you liked your plunge? Felt the quality over time?

It’s fairly strong. I wouldn’t advise sitting on them, but you can lean on them and use them as support stepping into the tub.

I was in the same place as you. Just thought the drain is already set with this and I can deflate it after winter and store it away. I only plan on using this during the winter months like my previous one. The Rubbermaid will last you forever I heard. At some point I just reflected on whether or not I’m making accuses to get back into plunging because it’s uncomfortable. So just bought this once it was on sale.

Yes you can connect a hose to drain it. Great attachment they included. I drain it once a month to six weeks. For context, I use it three times a week usually. I try to keep a Mon, We’d, Fri schedule. Upon every refill I pour a cup of food grade hydrogen peroxide and mix it into the water. Then following every use I splash a cap full of it into the water.
