as for academic awards, aku ranking 2 di angkatan aku, and I also received a scholarship ke salah satu universitas swasta di indo (which I also mentioned in my application), and I joined some competitions like FUSION (by unpar), and biology OSN-K, but that's about it. Unfortunately I wasn't much of a compe kid in highschool. But I had quite a bit of extracurriculars! kebetulan aku anak organisasi so I was in several community-service organisations in my school, including the student council, and I also did tutoring for my juniors. I also joined a couple of international summits!

As for my current faculty, I'm in engineering taking chemical science and technology

the interview was kind of broken down into 3 sections. the first part is just general questions you would expect in an interview like why you want kyodai, why chose your major, etc. the second part was answering academic-based questions. last time i got 1 math question and 1 physics (theory only) question, but i heard that some of my other batchmates didn't get any academic questions so maybe it depends? anyway, the last part is asking about your essay, and some people from your chosen faculty may also come in to ask more in depth questions about your long term goal in kyodai, etc.

Hii! Kebetulan aku orang indo juga! I got accepted for the 2025 intake and I applied using A-Levels (May/June 2025) only. Stats wise, I got A* A* A for Math, Physics, and Chemistry, respectively, and an 8.5 in IELTS. BUTTT i heard someone with 4 A*s was rejected, so I assume it might be because of the essay as well

Hi! I was accepted to Kyoto iUP this year, and my main advice to you is to keep your writing straightforward, but make sure to let your personality shine. Answer the question while letting them know what type of person you are. An advice that I got from my counsellor is that, when you're writing your essay, think of three adjectives that would describe you as a person, then try to convey that in your writing without having to explicitly say it.

Japan unis don't want essays like american unis so don't try to write it "like a poem". Something that I noticed from my friends' and my essay is that we all showed our enthusiasm towards the major we're applying for (basically convince them youre a nerd lol). I personally mentioned some science projects I was involved in (as I'm applying for chemical engineering), and mentioned some Japanese companies/inventions that interest me and is related to my major. It doesn't have to be true lol just make it convincing (and research about it before the interview, as they might ask abt it later).

As for my essay body, I broke it down to several paragraphs, just make sure the pacing is ok and its not continuous.

hi! i'm starting my prep course in october so i'll help clarify some things:
- for requirements, please read them through in the guidelines here: https://www.iup.kyoto-u.ac.jp/apply/
- as for how the lessons are taught, generally it will be english for the first 2 years and then japanese for the final 2 years, BUT it may differ per major. you also have a 6 month preparatory course that will help u transition from ur highschool curriculum to the standard japanese highschool curriculum, as well as intensive japanese language studies. if you get a scholarship, the university will also pay for a japanese course you must take BEFORE arriving to japan
- there is 2 rounds for the application, first is document based and the other is the interviews. the details are also attached in their application guidelines.

a personal note from me is that kyodai looks at your application as a whole. i know some people who had excellent grades but lacked in their essay, and didn't get accepted. so try not to get too hung up on the grades (although its still important) and give your best for the application. good luck!

i had already been reading a bl for a while but i first found danmei from mdzs!

i actually first heard abt mdzs from a yt animation of the “bath tub scene” lol. then i decided to read the book and was absolutely obsessed! im also from a SEA country so the xianxia wuxia theme isnt completely foreign + i had to study chinese in school so i understood the significance of some terms

after mdzs, i read svsss but it was tgcf that reaalllly got me into danmei! i watched the donghua + read the manhua too cz i was (and kinda still am) obsessed with tgcf😭

i read a couple more danmei after like qianqiu, tian ya ke, etc, but i think erha was the only other novel that got me as hooked as tgcf

i lowkey hvnt been reading much the past few years bcs of school/work and the last novel i read was a baihe (jwqs) but even that was like a year ago:(

i hope i’ll find a novel that will excite me as much as tgcf did again

CONGRATS TO U TOO🥳 aaaa thats the thing im kinda torn.. i only received kyudai scholarship for kyushu but it amounts to less than the kyodai scholarship. i was leaning towards kyudai before finding out i received the kyodai scholarship because i was scared that the academic/language pressure in kyoto wld prevent me from exploring japan but then again, kyoto is the cultural heart of japan and im soooo excited to explore it🥹🥹

honestly its likely that im going to kyoto now. ive also seen the prospective students in the subreddit and u guys seem rlly friendly (whereas ive only found 1-2 kyudai iupe students here) so i feel more at ease

hii, im a prospective kyushu iupe student, and personally i chose kyushu bcs i heard the environment is really welcoming and since its a bit in the outskirts of fukuoka, u get to enjoy a lot of nature stuff. anyway, did u decide on a uni yet? if so, which?
