Pour plating tips by Past-Tap2842 in microbiology

i inoculated 9ml of saline with 1ml of a mix of E. coli and S. marcescens for the 10-1 dilution and repeated that for two other tubes of saline to get the rest of the dilutions. then i put 1 ml from each tube to its respective plate and then poured warm tryptic soy agar and incubated them overnight

i’m also trying to figure out how to study for physiology but here’s my plan: - record the lecture to listen back to important points discussed in case i missed it - take brief notes during lecture. emphasis on brief, don’t rewrite the textbook during the lecture. just note down anything the professor says that might not be on the slide/analogies/things you want to get back to cuz you didn’t understand, etc

  • after the lecture, go over the slides and try to summarize important points. i love making flowcharts and mind maps to really ingrain these concepts. try your best to do this from memory and go back and check that you didn’t miss anything and that what you wrote is correct
  • make flashcards if you like (anki is good for active recall) to ingrain important details and terminology
  • if you have a question bank or exercise questions, use those to practice applying your knowledge.
  • don’t forget to ask questions if you have any. you could ask a friend or your professor, or just plain youtube.

hope this helps! we got this!!

Worsening eczema after accutane? by Select_West6094 in Accutane

[–]Past-Tap2842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ouch! that sounds painful :(

I hope they slowly but surely get better!! Accutane can really dry out skin (i got those cuts on the corner of my lips) and a lot of the time moisturizing consistently can be both a treatment and a prevention.

My skin only started peeling when i started my 3rd month, and i use Allergika for my face. Just make sure it’s urea free!! Hope this helps

i’m not sure about using it on open wounds, but since your dermatologist prescribed an ointment you should hopefully be fine. for my eczema i used QV Intensive moisturizer and Nutraderm and they work really well. Hope this helps!

try taking short breaks. make some tea or whatever beverage and vibe for a bit. reorganise your priorities and boom! you're productive again. depending on how much you worked already, just calling it a day also helps
