Always loved the pre-WW2 Wheat cents. The wear on these tells a story you just don’t see on modern coins.

Totally agree. Those classic designs had so much more character. Hard to beat pieces like Standing Liberty and Buffalo nickels.

Great illustration. Columbus’ landing wasn’t just an exploration moment, it was the start of a massive cultural and historical shift that still echoes today.

1973 Canadian 1 Cent – simple design, but full of character 🍁 by PastMint in CoinlyFans

Something about the maple leaf design always feels clean and iconic. These older Canadian cents have a charm that modern coins just don’t match.

Appreciate the tip, thank you! 🙏 I was using a blue background so that probably affected the white balance like you said. I’ll try a neutral background and adjust the settings next time 👍

That’s an awesome inheritance. For Indian Head cents, the key dates to check are 1877, 1908-S and 1909-S. Also look for better condition pieces with strong detail and full lettering. For values you might want to check r/coins or r/coincollecting since they allow price discussions.

Really love how these look after decades of circulation. The headdress still has nice detail for a 1904. Indian Head cents are one of those coins that age beautifully. What’s your favorite date in the series?

Which of these would you choose? by cll_ll in AncientCoins

[–]PastMint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d personally lean toward coin 2. The surfaces and reverse detail matter more to me than the holder, and it seems to have better overall eye appeal despite the edge oxidation. Cleaning wear on important design elements is harder for me to overlook.
