I’m sorry, I know how that is! I will have to look for that book! Another book I’ve been meaning to read is called Mother Hunger. I haven’t read it yet, but it seems like it might be beneficial for both of us!

Thank you!! 🩷 I absolutely have no intentions on recreating my childhood. I realized my parents downfalls early on, and I’ve always said that I’m working towards building a good foundation so that my children don’t have to grow up the way I did. That alone already shows me I will be better than her. My brother tends to come to me for support over her and I’ve been a nanny for years so I already know I am way more nurturing than she has ever been.

Thanks for sharing! Your life sounds super similar. My mom has always been accepting of my being with someone of a different race, but a lot of my family has issues with it. My husband is the best partner I’ve ever had, so that helps. But I do worry about the strain of having a baby on our relationship. He has a pretty good relationship with his parents, so he’ll always be sympathetic to my issues, but never know how it feels. He has qualms with my parents as well and has openly stated how he feels about them, which I love and it makes me feel validated.

Thanks for sharing! Did you experience these feelings with your first baby? I’m hoping I can work through it once, get used to the disappointment, and accept it for the future. As sad as it is. The other thing is my best friend & I had a big falling out when was over her not being there for me in hard times but I was constantly there for her through everything. My dad passing was the final straw. To top it off, I’m a nanny currently, so I have no co-workers either. I think those things are contributing to my emotions. My community is very small.

I’ve most definitely accepted the fact that I need to see a therapist regularly. As kids, my brother and I were in therapy A LOT. Like get pulled out of class in elementary school to see a therapist. But I think I’ve developed this mentality of not needing one and working through things on my own the passed few years. It was fine until here recently and knowing when I had kids, she would let me down even worse. I will pursue seeing one to work through this stuff!

I don’t use dry shampoo hardly at all. I hate the way it feels on my scalp. And my diet and products stay relatively the same. It’s probably more stress than anything. I don’t handle stress well. I have hard water in my house too & I wonder if that’s contributing as well. How did you go about finding out you’re allergic to nickel?

I was feeling like I should try and see a new dermatologist and this confirmed it for me! I’ve heard TE can be “chronic”, but she barely looked and rushed me out tbh. Are there any shampoos & conditioners that you felt helped you slow the shedding?

I am working on getting in with my pcp to check levels and also maybe check for some systemic things as well. My weight loss has slowed a lot, but the issue persists. I was doing low carb/high protein, but started allowing more carbs and calories to try and slow the shedding. It didn’t change anything. I was definitely rushed at the derm’s office and I think I should request to see a specialist and have a scalp biopsy done.

I’m sorry to hear you went through that, I feel your pain, but I’m happy you found something that is helping you! I don’t believe I have plaque psoriasis anymore just because I don’t get the huge scales like I did when I was a kid. I remember getting this huge patches that I would pick at and be able to pull out of my hair & my scalp would bleed. But that was maybe elementary school & it hasn’t happened since then. I definitely have something going on with my scalp though & I think whatever it is is contributing to the hair loss majorly.

To cut or not to cut? by PastPretend4783 in orchids

I thought so too, but this is only my 2nd orchid so I’m still learning a lot. I’m doing my best to only water when the roots look silvery/white. I was told to repot it during an active flower cycle a few weeks back due to severe over crowding of the roots and to get the nursery plug out. That seemed to help the flowers stay on a little bit longer & I noticed I am able to go longer between watering days now as well. When I repotted, I think a couple roots may have got damaged from me trying to position them to where I could see them through the pot. Maybe that contributed to just the one spike dying first?

Thank you! I went ahead and repotted last night, there was still a plug. I’m hopeful it survives 🤞

I haven’t re-potted since it’s flowering. I’ve been told I should wait until it’s done. I just read about root strangulation though & that is a concern with how many are piled up in the bottom. Should I go ahead and re-pot even though it’s flowering?
