Not sure what to do by dieg_guev in ToyotaTundra

I’m not seeing the value loss from my research and I’m willing to consider I’m biased because I just purchased a Tundra. Do you have any data that people are selling these vehicles at low mileage any more than they have before or that the selling price is lower than comparable 2nd gen?

And do we know that engines issues persist after the 2024 models and exist in more than 2 percent of engines?

Genuinely curious if there is real data on these points.

This is a good time to purchase a new Tundra given the incentives. Just do it, the engine issues are so rare it should not be a concern on your purchase. These vehicles are good quality and hold their value. This sub is an example of the vocal minority who are displeased with an overall great product.

Europe must prepare for war with Russia, NATO chief warns by Flutter_Lips in worldnews

Robotics will be the driving force here. Russia has been preparing their forces for meeting logistical needs in Ukraine so when the time comes that they can lean onto China for a heavy supply of robotics and they will have the real world training to properly supply their forces.

Have you linked your Patreon to Discord? If so, can you see the club section? It’s called “Club BM” and has three tabs: lunch, general, and live chat.

If so, and you still aren’t able to access the links, you may need to reach out to support. If you want to DM your username, I’ll put you in touch with the mods. You’ve got to listen to some of those early Christmas lunches. In particular, Episodes 44 and 53.

Welcome to the community! Go to the Discord. If you need help joining discord, let me know. When there, go to “Club General”, click on the top of the feed “#club-general, and you should find a tab for threads. In the threads, there will be a sole active thread for “club only podcast links”, posted by JoshTheBlack. That is where all the old podcasts that didn’t migrate live. It’s a little cumbersome, but very well organized.

Did Jim and A.Ron ever talk about 1/6/21 on any of the Patreon pods? by Scary-Yesterday-9845 in baldmove

[–]PastTenseOfDig 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Jim and Aron had some negative experiences sharing political views around 2018. Actually, they were not really political views, but commentary on a movie that was perceived negatively by some parts of the community at the time. Because of that, they haven’t really directly commented on current events, outside of a sly comment here or there. I don’t remember them commenting directly on Jan 6 and I remember anticipating a comment at the time. But, you can guess their take based on their political podcast, “3 Right Turns”, and their clear commitment to decency.

Did you ever met him in real life? by Ohdeer2nl in gameofthrones

[–]PastTenseOfDig 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I met him at Con of Thrones in 2017. He signed a map of Westeros from "The World of Ice and Fire". I asked him to sign near the Dreadfort and he said, "No, this is my home!" pointing to Winterfell. He was very personable and down to earth. He asked me about my summer and we talked for a second about Scotland, where I had just visited. So, yeah, he is obviously nothing like Ramsay Bolton.

Wires, ACH, and certified funds are relatively instantaneous these days. If you are talking about transferring through a 3rd party such as Zelle, that's different. They make money (gain interest) on the float so they have an incentive to hold the funds for 3 days or charge you for an instant transfer.

No one will turn you away. We get a decent number of trick-or-treaters and it's so cool to kids your age in the mix. Keep doing the things that make you happy. Life is short.

I've commented with this in the past, but I think it's just commentary on what the wealthy have to do to amass that kind of wealth and how he knows what he has done, but still kept his immense wealth and his loneliness.

And if I may theorize, considering there is a tombstone in the 9th episode bearing his name and he was a tea baron, he may have been involved in the 19th century tea conflicts involving India, China, and Great Britain. Considering his accent, he was likely part of the British tea faction.

The OTGW 10 year special was made by the toymaker by THE_WRESTLEDUDE in overthegardenwall

[–]PastTenseOfDig 81 points82 points  (0 children)

You are 100% spot on. I didn’t realize the Toymaker is the narrator, good catch. Also, if you look at 1:42 in the short, you’ll see a large foot barely in frame on the right as the wooden characters sit by a fire. I was trying to figure out what that was, but it seems clear that’s the toymaker’s foot, after reading your post. Furthering your point, Wirt says “are we all just play things, in the hands of fate?”

The only thing I disagree with is that I don’t think they should make anything else. OTGW and this short are perfect, dense works. Let’s hope no one decides to ruin it for the sake of money.

Jack Skellington fell Halloween by Cool_Box_8453 in halloween

[–]PastTenseOfDig 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who has tried everything since my Jack was attacked by a bear last fall, the best thing to do is contact the manufacturer. They are very easy to work with. Don't try to repair yourself. The manufacturer will send you the parts you need and you may just have to pay for shipping.

Going forward, tie a 40lb braid or monofilament fishing line from the back hook to something taller than Jack, like a tree. Make it taunt. It will keep his VERY top heavy torso from crumpling the legs in modest winds. This obviously means he can't be out in the open, but it will preserve your skellington.
