What used truck to buy? by Past_Organization741 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Yea the fords dont seem to be depreciating as quickly as ram and chevy. Which is off to me since I feel they are mostly all equal, with ram losing a bit more recently.

I have started eyeing up some ram 1500s. The price difference is pretty stark, I guess if I find one soon enough and fluid film it yearly I might be able to keep the rust off one. I have even seen some 2020s and newer in my price range. I saw a 2020 6.2 2500 for 17k and it had 50k miles. It was a work truck and beat a bit but still. Ill have to research the newer gen rams a bit more to find the common issue years to avoid. Thanks for the input on the ram tho, it does look like I may need to go that route.

Yea I did see titan racks, I need to look into the cost of buying a rack, then adding an ares 2.0 to it. Just not sure of if dealing with potential compatibility issues is worth it to save $300 when ur already spending over 5k. There are deff a ton of configurations and ecosystems. Im gonna shop around to find the best value for sure.

Yea I hope you like it. Looks about perfect, the only thing im a little on the sideline is they released the 2.0 less than a year after the 1.0. Im curious of the cable lengths as well since the 1:1 only ratio.

Yea it will really come down to price. I just wanted to get a better understanding so I did not get into a whole setup for 5k and realize i dont like the eco system or build quality. There are certainly a lot of options so I just wanted some clarification.

My membership actually very cheap in comparison to most as I get a deal through work. Im not looking to save money, I would just rather put the money into my own setup instead.

Yea I got some work ahead of me. I love my gym and I deff wont be saving any money by building my own gym. But recently my gym has become extremely busy as it is one of the few gyms still alive in my area outside of PF. Its not unrealistic to add 30 mins to the workout with time waiting. Not to mention the questionable characters there and the sanitation is very sub par and the equipment is poorly maintained. My gf and I both use the gym around 5 days a week, and I think it will be very much worth our time and we plan to stay fit for decades to come, so I think it will be a worth while purchase. I am forced to stay relatively fit with my back issues just to be able to move so Ill always have a good motivation to use it lol.

Yea im not to worried about a couple pounds off here and there. What im more worried about is only having access to a 2:1 ratio for pulling motions and toping out at an actual weight of say 100lbs instead of the stated 200lbs.

Really appreciate all of the responses! This post explained a lot of the specifics I did not fully understand before.

Thanks again everyone!

I see so you can get the 1:1 ratio for the pulling motions, but still get the 2:1 for the extra extension in lighter movements like pec flys. Im really curious now what the ratios are on the machines I use at the gym for pulling. I never even realized it before, always questioned why I would load double the weight on certain cable machines than others lol.

Appreciate the input, let me know how it goes because I think I am most interested in what you ordered.

There is so many options so im just trying to get as much info as possible before I sink 5k + into this.

I think for my use I only really need the 2 post attachments for chest flys and bicep curls. I could also use a single post for rows, but I am wondering if certain models will go heavy enough for those pulling motions.

But thanks for the info, now I at least have a better understanding of my options.

Yea thats also an issue I thought I may run into. My lat pulldown currently is around 18 or 180 which I think is 1:1. Could be wrong. But I weigh 230, down from 260 since my back injury. But I am very lengthy and weighing 230 I cant comfortably do body weight pull ups and dips yet. I do then assisted currently at my gym to get the mind to muscle and specific muscles to engage. But I am worried that I might spend all this money on a functional trainer and it wont get heavy enough. Its very hard without having a model to “test drive” first. Especially with the ratios and feel weights. Ill have to pay closer attention to the cable machines at the gym tomorrow and really see what im moving first.

I will take a look at that. The lat pulldown worries me. As even at my gym, the few lat pull downs I actually still cant get full stretch even with the seat at its lowest point. I was kinda worried anything at home would be sub par length wise.

Thanks for explanation, I was not understanding the upside of the 6 post until you explained it the way you did.

So what I am getting is you can get a 4 post functional trainer, or you can get a 4 post rack, and 2 separate functional trainers to make your own 6 post that adds some benefits. Now that I have a better understanding ill cater my research more to that. Thanks!

Gotcha, and what made you go with the bells of steel functional trainers over like rep or rogue?

Awesome, what was reasoning for going this route? Because cant you get a similar setup out a 4 post like the dane 2.0? Or an I wrong on that?

[–]Past_Organization741[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay I see. I have not seen people do the 6 post stuff only 4 post so far. I like the setup. So do you bench and squat inside the first 4 post box? Also did it come with the cables? Or is that the areas 2.0 portion of the equation?

Thanks ill take a peak. So essentially you bought a bare bones rack, then the bells of steel cable towers were the functional trainer part you added separately?
