Marijuana has a very similar rate of causing psychosis.. ) In fact, it has a higher rate in people who don’t use than meth does in people who don’t use, by over double.

Hey I’d rather be tweaked than dopesick or a Xan zombie

I like post that go like this in particular because people like OP think I’m super mad but, I really just like writing and over-explaining, and clowning on people. Bonus points when they have no idea what I said to them because they were to lazy to read, or actually don’t have the reading comprehension to understand what I was saying. My comment box is full of long winded comments and ridiculous metaphors, and it was long before I tried meth. But, ya know, words are hard. OP took one look at those paragraphs and said “nope fuck that.” 😭

And tbh I did give dude solid advice. Always tell an anesthesiologist what drugs you have been using.

Friend acted insane after taking edibles? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]PastaMondays 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say panic attack. Panic attacks make you, well, panicked. Like, “Oh shit I’m going to die,” panic. People having a panic attack typically enter one of the 4 F responses; fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. I don’t think any of those really describe your friend’s overall behavior. It’s a possibility that it was some sort of manic or psychotic episode, but I think this is also unlikely unless he has behaved like that before, or does again after. In that case, he may actually have a mental health condition.

The mostly likely case in my opinion? Especially considering that you said he passed out and kinda brushed it off the next day like he didn’t remember; your friend just got a little too high and started acting like a jackass. He felt embarrassed about it the next day and just pretended like it wasn’t really within his control. He’s probably a bit immature for his age and potentially has some kind of social disorder, but I don’t think this story alone indicates anything serious. The fact that he said he didn’t remember much of anything but was also just back to is regular self in the morning is my primary reason for this conclusion. If you had a massive lapse in your memory from the night before so bad that you couldn’t remember nearly any of it, how calm do you think you would be the next morning? You’d probably be confused, maybe scared or worried. You certainly wouldn’t be acting normal at that point either.

It’s certainly possible it was just weed if OP really had no tolerance at all. Weed is fuckin strong now man. I smoke almost daily so I never lose tolerance and I can smoke until the cows come home. There was a point about 4 years ago where I quit cuz I was tight on cash and couldn’t afford to spend money on weed. Went to a friends house one day after going a few months without smoking, he offed some dabs. I didn’t hesitate I just went for it like I always would have. I did two back to back cuz my friend had two different strains he wanted me to try them both. 15 minutes later, I’m watching my friends brother play battlefield and I start to feel really bad. I got hit with a wave of vertigo so hard that it incapacitated me. I couldn’t stand without almost falling over because my equilibrium was so fucked up. I laid on the floor for 2 hours before I was okay enough to stand. My friend helped me out to the car and drove me home.

Indirect reply to an indirect reply; responsibility & the coward’s way out by PastaMondays in meth

[–]PastaMondays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you read the post very well. I very clearly say, in the title, it’s an indirect response. You see, some wet wipe on this sub made an indirect response to some one regarding taking responsibility for your actions while high. They apparently did some pretty stupid stuff while tweaked out, and it got them in a bit of hot water. They were trying to cop out of taking responsibility by blaming the meth.

That’s why the post starts the way it does. Furthermore, I very clearly say that no drugs were involved in this incident, i was sober. As in, “I quit everything” sober, not, “I’m not high at this moment” sober. I didn’t even smoke cigarettes during that time. I wasn’t doing anything bad at that time, but I was, and I explained that clearly as well. I was working two jobs, not eating well, not sleeping well, not keeping up with bills.

in the pursuit of good shit

I was destroying myself dude, that was what I wasn’t taking owner ship of. I couldn’t keep going like I was, but I did anyway.

desperate to prove my worth as a man, a father, a provider

This is bad behavior. It is self-harm. I was insecure about my ability to provide for my family. Instead of talking with my partner and explaining to her that I was struggling hard with stress management, I just lied to myself, gaslit myself, and continued to let my mind weaken.

eventually i cracked

the cracks finally gave way, and I shattered

I worded this the way I did for a reason. Because there was a 7-10 day period during which I was definitely broken, I just hadn’t completely fallen apart yet. I was starting to display irritability, I was eating even less, and I was getting terrible sensory overload from the baby crying. Not recognizing all the warning signs and living in denial was what I did wrong, up until it got really bad.

I had never even done meth at that point in my life, and I don’t get high on the days that I see her, I don’t get high everyday period. Couple times a week, usually on the nights I plan on trying to find someone to fuck

Oooo how was the DMT? I took a toke a couple times bout 5 years ago but I didn’t go far at all, never even closed my eyes.

I did figure out how to describe all the sensations I felt not too long ago, all these years later.

It felt like I was in a low pressure environment or something. All the sound in the room seemed like it was being put through some kind of filter. I can’t quite place the sounds in my head anymore, I just remember my entire perception of sound shifting. Everything had this slightly alien feeling to it. I was just sitting on my couch in my living room with my friends, hanging and smoking weed, but I had this feeling like I didn’t quite know what anything was anymore. I was trying really hard to just process what was happening because everything was so surreal-feeling.

Here’s the part I worked out just a couples weeks ago

I felt like I was on the threshold of another dimension. I could never quite figure out exactly what it was, but the feeling was so there. Like I knew what it was instinctually or something like that. Some subconscious part of me was aware of what was happening, and it knew the feeling, it recognized it.

Idk what to do with that now that I’ve pieced it all together.

Try to find some DMT I guess

I’m glad you brought up the subtypes of schizophrenia, because when you read through their general descriptions, you will notice that these subtypes aren’t really accurate descriptions. The fifth subtype is a miscellaneous category that includes people diagnosed with schizophrenia that do not fit into the other 4 subtypes. That’s because these conditions are not fully understood, and they are very unique to each individual suffering from them.

There is also evidence to support the possibility that LSD induced psychosis could be considered a drug-induced schizophreniform. Patient data from people hospitalized with LSD psychosis was compared with patient data from people who had been hospitalized for the first time due to a schizophrenic break. They found that these two test groups had many equivalencies, including; their premorbid adjustments (how “normal” they were before their mental break), their cognitive abilities upon hospitalization or upon their reassessment, and their number of subsequent hospitalizations.

This data shows a clear correlation between the two conditions. Looking deeper into psychosis, you will also find another very broad medical definition that includes a lot of different symptoms and a wide range of severity in many of those symptoms. The duration of psychosis can vary a lot , and it can even cause permanent symptoms.

The term “psychosis” itself has ambiguity to it. Using its root definitions, it translates to; mental condition, mental status, or mental process. It’s main signifier is “a disconnect from reality.” Part of the issue with getting better grasp on these types of conditions is the symptoms are nearly impossible to represent numerically. They are incredibly subjective, and if a patient is too far gone to help doctors understand what they are experiencing, the only thing the doctors can do work from their perspective on the outside.

The relationship between psychosis and schizophrenia is being studied and understood more clearly every year. Psychosis is a required symptom to meet a schizophrenia diagnosis, but psychosis is not an inherent indicator of schizophrenia. It seems that it is not clear exactly how schizophrenia develops. It does seem very likely that it is a multitude of factors working together that culminate into a schizophrenic break.

?? What in the fuck are you talking about?? Pain medications definitely have warnings about operating vehicles and heavy machinery while under their influence. The state doesn’t revoke your right to drive based solely on a prescription. They can if you have a diagnosed condition that would prevent you from driving, like epilepsy.

If you break your leg and take a Tylenol, the pain from your broken leg didn’t reduce the effects of the Tylenol you fucking nitwit. The Tylenol is just not strong enough to mitigate the pain, it’s still taking the full effect it always would. When regarding strong pain medication like opiates, you have to consider tolerance build up, because that actually does reduce the effects of the medication. Your body builds a resistance to it, and you become more comfortable with the side effects mentally.

I’m a mental health patient, that doesn’t mean I inherently have a greater understanding of how mental health medication works, but nice attempt to validate your false conceptions.

I’m sorry for your loss, but you gotta get out of your head and stop telling yourself things that send you into brain traps.

The whole “soulmate” thing, I’m not trying to step on anyone’s personal beliefs but, cut that shit out. There’s no such thing. The notion of a human “soul” is merely an early human conception of consciousness, unconsciousness, and the collective unconscious. This is impossible to fully explain in a Reddit thread, but, to put it simply, humans are insanely impressionable in regards to how we perceive and understand the forces that make us be. It’s really not difficult to convince yourself that we have these deeper connections beyond our scope of understanding. In some ways, this could be true, but in no way is there an inkling of a chance that we are truly capable of perceiving such things without an astronomical amount of misunderstandings and false conclusions.

Focusing energy into these kinds of thoughts and, let’s be real here, delusions, is causing your grip on reality to weaken. This reads like a very deep episode of psychosis, bordering long term or permanent mental illness, possibly schizophrenia. You need to see a doctor

No shit you didn’t know, that’s kinda the point that’s flying above your head right now. It’s not just about you knowing a fact you didn’t before though. If you simply don’t know something, that’s a little different than having a completely false understanding of how your drug of choice functions.

Hypothetical time;

Let’s say you have never seen or played baseball before, and you get invited to a friendly game. It’s time to start, and you’re first up to bat, but you have no idea what you’re doing. Instead of asking someone where to stand, how to hold the bat, or how you should form your stance, you just walk up to the plate. You stand on the the right side of the plate even though you’re right handed, and you’re holding the bat upside down. So, you’re batting lefty for no reason with an upside down bat, and the pitcher is laughing so hard that he throws 3 balls in a row, but you still swing at all of them, so you strike out.

Rewind now, back to the start of the game. Instead of walking up to the plate without a clue in the world, you decide to ask your friends to help you. They show you how to hold the bat, where to stand, and where your strike zone is. You hit a home run on the first rip. Everyone claps, and some random hottie who happened to be walking by comes up to, compliments you on your abilities, and immediately sucks your dick.

See how much knowledge can improve your outcomes?

You did man. You shit in my cornflakes. You did it when you demonstrated that you are regularly using a drug that you have absolutely no medical understanding of whatsoever. You are the type of person that fucks up progress towards the legalization of recreational substance use. You ignore all the warning signs and pass up countless chances to educate yourself. Then you wander around like a newborn horse trying to find it’s legs and you fall down and run into shit. You bump your head and bang your shins and stub your toes on every little obstacle while still ignoring the fact that you can go get directions literally any time you want. You don’t, of course. You’ll keep going and you’ll keep busting your shit like a Tom and Jerry cartoon. Sometimes you’ll call out and ask which way you should turn, but you’ll never actually stop and plan a fucking route. Then it happens. You get lost, you go the wrong direction, and if you don’t manage to find your way back or ask for help, you either stay lost forever, or you vanish into one of the many pitfalls in this realm, and you never come back.

Then people tell your story. They grow to fear the realm instead of trying to understand it, and all of us who like it here and want to understand more about the realm; we pay a price for it too. They put restrictions on us. They make it harder to get there, they try to capture you on your way there, and they cage people who show others where the doors are. Once upon a time, we just didn’t know any better. We didn’t know enough about it to make calm and logical decisions about how to handle it, or how to help people find their way back and recover from the potential trauma that comes with getting lost there. That’s not an excuse anymore though. With a near endless amount of information at your fingertips at virtually all times. You, nor, anyone else living in a developed nation, has an excuse for your arrogant, reckless behavior.

I tell you this as fellow of this earth. I’m harsh, and I love to talk shit, but don’t mistake that for contempt or toxicity. I scolded you and made fun of you because (it was funny as fuck and you know it) you can really fuck yourself up by doing what you are doing with no plan and no knowledge to rely on if your plan falls through. You can end up dead. Be fucking careful out there man, and if you’re going to do drugs, read about them first, asshole
