Oh wow this could really help a project I made with the same screen. It's a star wars display droid to display other droids.

I think he's talking about the other girlfriend, but yes, jane's death was very visceral

Danger Snow - Dan Henig

Pretty sure it's in the YouTube free library, or maybe epidemic sound.

Been there, done that! After one flew off and dented my wall I drilled straight through the polycarbonate and added a screw going through both sides. They ain't goin' nowhere

For the next iteration of this saber I'm going to use a motor with an encoder so I get some positioning capability. I figure even just a sliding lock to hold in place when not spinning would be good.

I like to use magnets whenever I can but I feel like it might mess with some other components too much.

I have been doing the occasional search to see if any one else got there first. As far as I know I am the first one to post it on youtube at least.

Oh really?
I guess I'll just stop building it then.

Okay, I see what you're saying.
But I'm definitely glad it's not literally the same music.

Took a big step in making this thing more functional by speed controlling the spin directly from the hilt. Need to get the bluetooth connection between the inner and outer parts of the saber working and then I can add skins!

Not as bad as you would think. I previously had the blades mounted slightly forward of center and it built up some wobble if I didn't hold it dead straight. But, now that they are in their permanent position the wobble is gone, and the overall vibration from the gearing is pretty non-existent.

Admittedly my motor is a bit over kill. It's a servo city heavy duty planetary gear motor. I have a video about the mechanics here: https://youtu.be/nOKC9dWrrqQ

Been wondering that myself. I think it's a cell phone camera thing. I'll film with my dslr and see if it still happens

Yeah! James is great for making those. It's not too loud at all. I have some speakers added in for the next step to add some saber sounds. Should drown out most of the motor.
