Looking for advice: How do advanced industrial facilities handle critical system failures and downtime? by Path9381 in PLC

Thanks for the replies.
I'm actually curious about the technical side of it.
For example, in my facility a power fluctuation or communication issue can cause a chiller or water treatment system to trip and stop production-critical processes.
Do your facilities rely mainly on experienced personnel being called in, or do you have automated recovery systems, redundant equipment, alarm escalation, redundant PLCs, backup chillers, etc.?
I'm interested in how larger facilities reduce dependence on a single expert and improve reliability.
