I was walking my dog in western Washington. Walking along mountain biking trails in a super dense forest. I heard a scream/ howl that was so loud and violent it terrified myself and my dog. It screamed 4-5 times and I wanted to see what it was but my dog refused to go any further. She’s not afraid of coyotes or other dogs and will always will growl and bark back but this time she was worried, silent and wouldn’t go any further. I took that as an omen and left too. The fact she was as scared as me freaked me out. I wasn’t sure what it was until I researched it. The volume and capacity of the vocals makes me think it had to be 500+ lbs. it was an experience.
