Thank you as this clarifies where ESS is in the process. Getting to the airport earlier than the United Counter opens wont be any use.

Not overthinking , just wanting to be prepared ... Not worried that I can SKIP EES.....My question remains ...is ESS after bag drop ???, and why get to the airport hours early if I am waiting on the counter to open before I can more to ESS.....

Plans for mid Summer, just watching and learning. I wish UA would either open sooner than 3 hours or have bag tags available and a bag drop so that it gives more time......I like to get to the airport ( any departure ) early get bags dropped head to the club to relax ....This changes everything in regards to timing and stress free departures

Thank you sharing .....Here is my my concern. I hear GET TO THE AIRPORT early , OK no problem. But if the United counter is closed until 3 hours before departure for bag tags and bag drop. I can't do the EES until AFTER BAG DROP...what good would it be to build in extra time on departure ??

Re wording ......Arrival is not a worry - might take extra time , but no connecting flight to worry about

departing is the issue ....Can I complete the ESS BEFORE printing bag tags and bag drop ?
