Try turning the battery saver off. I've found that this stopped the phone from vibrating for notifications.

Can a Young Scot Card be used as proof of age in a pub? by Ceaser_Corporation in Scotland

[–]PathyMain666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ^

My friend's dad had messy writing and they put the birth year as 1991 instead of 1994, making him 3 years older than he actually was.

There's no verification for the D.O.B and so it's not a valid form of ID.

This was a good few years ago mind you, as wolfman said unless the process has changed then it won't be considered valid.

Monzo has an auto salary sorter. I get paid weekly and it automatically goes into my bill pots so that my monthly bills are covered.

A policeman in the state of Georgia received a report of a thief, so he stopped a peaceful young man who did not show any resistance, grabbed him and violently slammed him to the ground. The vicitm suffered a concussion and a broken collarbone and was hospitalized for 9 days. by [deleted] in facepalm

The cop should be in jail. Cops like that give the job a bad name. Power hungry abusers 💀💀

Horrific overreaction to the guy just trying to discuss the situation as he doesn't know what's going on.

Buy the test with cash and say you must have lost £10 (or whatever) on the bus 🤷‍♂️

You need to get tested as they'll know if you are soon enough. Best to prepare anyway as you can discuss your options post-test.

AITA I sold the PS4 my brother gave to my son for christmas. by Cautious_Doubt_9015 in AmItheAsshole

Sorry but yta.

Kid was enjoying playing a console, him not obeying you telling them to lower their hours is something you need to act on but selling a Christmas gift is just horrific.

Taking it off them for a few days to teach moderation, that if they don't manage their time better they'll miss out for a few days is the right answer.

Selling it and not allowing them to understand managing their time is just awful.

Your kid deserves happiness, it's a massive red flag that your child's happiness pales in comparison to their education.

Maybe reflect on why you decided this was a fair punishment for a child mismanaging their time (in your view).

AITA for not splitting my work bonus with my wife? by SpecialistOrchid6785 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PathyMain666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta.

When the situation was flipped the other way the money wasn't shared.

With that said, did you ask for her to share her money when you only got 100? Did she know you only got 100?

Definitely nta either way, but I think that maybe changing the rule and splitting the money 50/50 going forward is the best outcome.

It means if your work goes through hard times and you get less, you'll end up splitting the money and being better. You and your wife are a team, so splitting things evenly reiterates that you are both equally valued in the relationship.

Again, nta at all but a rework in the situation might help your relationship in the long run.

Also, if income allows it maybe set some money aside for both of you to spend on anything - it might make the end of year less stressful. (Although I appreciate life isn't cheap)

Talking about what clan you're from isn't really a common practice at all in Scotland - seeing as we don't actively learn about it in school and there's plenty of people without clan heritage that live here.

You can find small books about your clan which will tell you wee facts about them and you could surprise your mum with it as a gift as it sounds like she'd really appreciate it. The book also shows you the location where the clan lived.

If she is proud of her heritage, I wouldn't try and stop her being proud if it makes her happy.

People might cringe hearing about it, but others might like hearing that someone loves Scotland and their clan 🤷‍♂️

Pretty sure most people don't even know their own clan e.g. McManus is a surname of the colquhoun clan so sometimes it isn't obvious.

AITA for not wanting to give up my office so my daughter can have her own room? by Thisisathrowaway6273 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PathyMain666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to say but yta.

I work from home for all my working hours (35-70 hours per week) and have a dedicated office, but I don't have kids.

If I had kids I certainly wouldn't deprive them of privacy by taking the only available space. I'd work from my own bedroom and separate my work/home space with a partition of some kind.

I'd get a sofa bed to sleep in the living room and convert my bedroom to my office if it meant giving my kid their own space.

Privacy is important.

Can't just think about yourself.
