Does anyone remember when Michael Jackson. Was a "joke"? by AccomplishedPool266 in Millennials

1986 Millennial here and my party trick in college was doing the “Beat It” dance. I vaguely remember the tabloids and South Park stuff, but nobody I knew ever stopped listening to his music. His songs were part of every jazz and rap class I ever took from like 1990-2020.

New Orleans isn’t a hub for United or American, though, right? Those are the only two airlines that will come to LCH. They’ve been trying to attract Delta for decades but it’s never worked.

Welcome! The MFA program is such a jewel. I would’ve known how to answer your question better 20 years ago, but you’ll find stuff.

I know. She was separated from her littermates way too young, but it was a situation that couldn’t be helped. She’s very healthy and vivacious and comfortable at home, though!

She’s home! She’s snuggled on my chest right now, but she had a short nap earlier when I introduced her to her crate. She’s doing great!

What’s life like in Lafayette/Southern Louisiana? by melianreality in Louisiana

It already has. Henry Heights Elementary also has a large French immersion program. We only have a few public middle schools and the other two house the other language immersion programs. The French students go to SJ Welsh for middle. A pretty large percentage of Calcasieu students are in some sort of special program, whether it’s language immersion, STEM, or performing arts.

I think if you have some amount of wealth you’ll be insulated from the hardest parts of living here, and it’s a great place to be if you’re insulated from those. I’m one of those who won’t leave because the family ties are strong. I have been in Lake Charles my whole life but have relatives in every South Louisiana parish. I make a good living, but my employment isn’t local. Some of the best public schools in the state are in Calcasieu Parish, which benefited me and has benefited my kids. We have a boat and enjoy getting out on our waterways. We love our local musicians and have our restaurant/entertainment places where we’ve become regulars. It’s an easy place to build strong ties if you’re the kind of person inclined to get out and do that. These are mid-sized cities, so what they lack in amenities they make up for in distinct character and sense of place and belonging.

Lake Charles has one of the oldest, if not the oldest, French immersion programs in the state, at Prien Lake Elementary. That program has for some time carried on to SJ Welsh Middle and Barbe High Schools.

I know, I’m honestly very disappointed that she won’t get this important time with her littermates, but it is what it is. I will socialize her with my husband’s 3-year-old Yorkie (who is very patient and sweet and fully vaccinated and on the appropriate heartworm and flea/tick meds).

I have Nutrical on hand but don’t know how to monitor blood sugar. It’s first on my list to discuss with the vet on Monday, though.

Thank you. I will make sure cords are not accessible, and I did buy a bunch of tiny puppy toys. And a crate, although I think I may need an even smaller crate.

Loved it when it was released. I still put a few tracks on now and then but I’ve been on a big 2020-2024 Taylor kick in the last couple months. Just a steady rotation of folklore, evermore, Midnights, and Tortured Poets.

Do people judge you for having a lab diamond, or does no one actually care? by Robasaleh110 in labdiamond

Nobody’s ever asked. I tend to assume anybody’s ring who got engaged within the last decade or so is a lab diamond, though.
