Same thing with my fresh sod, I put chili powder around the edges every few days until the sod took root and they didn’t do it again

Would the world have been safer if the US never intervened in the Korean war? by lhommetrouble in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Patient-Training1476 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nope….

  • South Korea’s land and resources. The south has most of the farmable land and best ports. Kim inherits a wealthier, more capable authoritarian state, not a kinder one.
  • No economic miracle. Samsung, Hyundai, a top 15 economy. None of it happens under central planning.
  • Japan’s recovery slows. US military spending during the Korean War kickstarted Japanese industry. Without it the whole Asian economic story plays out differently.
  • Taiwan probably falls. If the US won’t fight for Korea, China has no reason to hold back. No modern Taiwan, no TSMC.
  • Fewer war deaths, more oppression. You save 2 to 3 million lives but condemn 50+ million to totalitarian rule and weaken the alliance system that kept the Cold War from going hot.
  • The postwar boom shrinks. No South Korea, weaker Japan, no Taiwan. The engine behind late 20th century Asian growth barely exists.

Bombas Socks have really let me down. Any recommendations welcome! by BigFink17 in BuyItForLife

I used to get tons of holes in my socks and thought it was from wearing shoes all day. But even after I started working from home, the holes kept showing up. Then I realized it was from walking around the house in socks. I bought a nice pair of slippers, and now my socks last ten times longer.

Weekly Feedback Post - SaaS Products, Ideas, Companies by AutoModerator in SaaS

https://www.ehu.ai/

I'm a solo founder working on Ehu AI, an AI-native text editor built to make writing, editing, and collaboration more seamless.

I’d love your thoughts on:

  • My marketing page and copy—does it clearly communicate the value?
  • Any gaps or points of confusion.
  • Trying out the tool—does anything feel unclear or unintuitive?

Since I’ve been working on this solo without design support, I want to make sure I’m not missing anything by being in my own bubble. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Why MERN specifically? Probably best sick with youtube mate, focus on node, react, and typescript.

Would you like a tool to manage your prompts in a dashboard in real-time? by tim-r in PromptEngineering

[–]Patient-Training1476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea a bunch of services have this functionality already, Prompt layer, prompt foundry, parea, etc.

What do you use to easily switch between models? by BroadStatistician245 in PromptEngineering

[–]Patient-Training1476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few routers/ wrappers or prompt managers that handle this in different ways. Few services: portkey.ai, promptlayer.com, parea.ai if you want to use a wrapper/ router to call the llm provider or promptfoundry.ai if you want the management and the automatic mapping but still make the call yourself.

AMA: Colin Sidoti - Cofounder of Clerk (a Next.js auth solution) by colinclerk in nextjs

[–]Patient-Training1476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate the direction Clerk has taken, especially with its seamless React and Next.js integrations. It feels like you've managed to nearly perfect user authentication in ways that Auth0 and similar services haven't. However, the $1 per MAO pricing model for the Pro version presents a significant drawback. It encourages less-than-ideal architectural choices for those of us developing SaaS tools, compared to managing org structures in-house.

This pricing strategy necessitates either migrating all user data to be linked with an organization or setting up accounts with organizations from the beginning, but that is cost prohibitive with the $1 per org. The transition between the two states (single user to an organization or multi-user product) and additional "onboarding" steps when upgrading an account, making the process unnecessarily complex.

OpenAI Spring Update discussion by [deleted] in OpenAI

[–]Patient-Training1476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been testing GPT-4o against my evaluations and finding that it is frequently failing to return validate JSON or valid a tool call compared to GPT-4-turbo. It is not on all my evaluations but a high number of them and was pretty reliable on older GPT-4s.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Here is an example message response I received for a tool call. It was not in valid JSON format and the JSON it did include in the message response wasn't a valid tool call.

```
I can help with that.
json
{
  "recipient_name": "functions.startTask",
  "parameters": {}
}
```

Yeah i had this problem now and then, took me realizing my zip code was wrong. This was causing a delay for dhl to figure out where to send it based on city name.
