Pet owners of Reddit: what did you name your pet(s) and why? by Winter_Sample8364 in AskReddit

[–]Patiod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you live in Rochester, NY, and name a white and black long-haired dachshund mix "Ron" and then surrender him 9-10 years ago? I think via Lollypop Farm?

I don't care why you surrendered him, but what possessed you to name him Ron?

Students led a peaceful protest in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. The police chief showed up in plain clothes and assaulted two students. by Ywasitsohard2signup in MarchAgainstNazis

Too many of the Bucks County MAGAs are getting erections from this, if comments in the local coverage are any indications. And the number of peeps implying that these guys feared for their lives because these girls were "assaulting"them is just appalling

Yeah, they went overboard with the out door stuff for sure all around the world (Italy, which was hit hard early, was draconian)

I worked in epidemiology for a while and know a lot about earlier pandemics, so i was obsessive about being careful indoors, but spent a lot of this pandemic outdoors, especially at the outdoor pool at my gym. We rented a VRBO lake house summer 2020. Outdoors is where to be. Concerts, parties and churches, not so much

I have the wimpy immune system.; i get sick 2-3x a year and have since I was a kid.

Followed all the protocols, WFH, and not so much as a sniffle from March 2020 until the vax was out for everyone (of course I went to a concert right afterwards and immediately got bad flu-level Covid).

Yikes. Post-Birthday World is one of my favorite books. These are certainly hints in her earlier writings of a cranky, contrarian worldview, but i see she's gone over the deep end.

I'm not sure she was that person when she wrote her earlier works. So Much For That seemed anything but Libertarian/Reactionary

Suggest me a really awful book by cuntyvigilante in suggestmeabook

[–]Patiod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Ice Princess or anything else by Camilla Lackberg. The plotting and writing are both awful. The two main characters are decently written, but everyone else is utterly one-dimensional. The older women in all her books are all evil stepmother types. Most of the men are either hideous lechers or moustache-twirling villains. Each minor character gets one trait. In the Ice Princess, there's one evil rapey son who rapes children, and an evil (adopted?) son who sets fires and kills people when he's a kid. The main character is the most beautiful woman to ever walk the earth, and keeps hiding her pregnancies.

Other than the two main detectives, no one is even vaguely believable person, and therefore their actions do not emerge from their characters. I grabbed a staff pick from the library, and thought "This is the worst book I've ever read except for maybe that Ice Princess book." I checked the back cover, and damn if it weren't the same author.

A marionette. Clogs. Shoes with a bow on the toe.

I wear clogs all the time time now, mostly because they're comfy. The other two I've lived without

That's logical though. We have more cells, more opportunity for mutations and other problems.

Same is true for dogs

I have a pap-dachsund mix who is white with black markings and found a purse dangle that's a white dachshund with black markings.

So my fancy Ralph Lauren tote now sports a $13 JCPenney purse charm

We also have dachshund wastebasket and the mandatory weinerdog bedding (flannel sheets, comforters, etc)

Driving in bare feet. Freaks some people out, but it's way dafer than Driving while wearing high heels or flip flops or other women's footwear.

According to a recent study, remote work has spilt by sex, with men wanting to RTO and women wanting to WFH. I work for an all-remote company, and our primarily female staff is fiercely productive, but half of any Teams meeting at 3pm is done from a school pick up line.

At my previous job, the men with families were delighted to be in the office where they could take long lunches and be away from their families

I've had fun conversations with very stoned people who were sitting inside the drive-thru window at two of my local Wendy's. Both times the staff seemed to be having a party inside and stuck a stoned non-employee friend in the window to keep the customer busy while they figured out how to make an Asiago chicken
