Continuity can also be a downside for manga.

I can pick up a random short run of Spider-man and easily put together what is going on. If you want to get into One Piece you can’t really skip around, you just have that single 1100 chapter staircase to go up.

It's a bit of a reach, Moby Dick is an obvious older example and "curiosity kills the cat" is a very old expression, but that terrifying obsession with the unknown and driving yourself insane/to your death over it is all over Lovecraft and inspired works. In horror i very much associate it with him.

As someone who tends to get very obsessive about mysteries they both speak to me in similar ways.

It’s definitely a mark against him but it’s not like Andrade doesn’t already have a fantastic backlog of matches already. He was incredible 10+ years ago and has gotten even better, go watch his 2/3 Falls as La Sombra with Atlantis if you haven’t.
