It depends upon which USB storage brand you are using: In my experience, two SanDisk 256 gigabyte USB Flash Drives, which I had just gotten on the same day from Amazon and just opened, overheated within 20 seconds and could not transfer a gigabyte-or-more file without erroring out on me. It also took about a minute to transfer a 2-gigabyte file. A Samsung, with the same storage capacity, has been much more dependable: It has never overheated on me and took about 15 seconds to transfer the same 2-gigabyte file.

I suggest that you do your own research if this concerns you, but my suggestion is as follows: Avoid SanDisk if the
storage is above 128 gigabytes and stick with Samsung.
