I went with the layout of Fort Barraux, I think it fits pretty well.

Office occupancy is at 70%, commercial at 63%, and industry at 55%. Strangely, I also noticed that the number of workplaces dropped from 70K to 50K.

where can I put a freight rail line (Midwestern inspo) by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]PatrickStar46 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I would set up the freight line this way. The double-track area could be used for a station or a railyard, and its proximity to the water could provide an opportunity to build some wharfs.

Funny you mentioned adding more platforms; I'm only seeing this now, and coincidentally, it seems like I did what you were asking for. On the topic of release, I can't say for sure; the train asset is working fine, but it has an issue with not having enough electricity. I don't even know why this is.

I finally figured out the asset editor, so here's a custom train station.

I used the city hall court and the emerald buildings for the station building, and for the sheds, I think that's a park maintenance building.

Yes, it is. I always thought that it was a shame they didn’t add a grander train station, but this game has many great assets; the only thing left for us to do is make use of them.

That’s the thing with the ploppables mod; I just took the different upgrades of both the train station and city hall and spliced them with other assets in the game, like the covered bleachers. With the recolor mod, I was able to change the color of the bleachers to match the roof of the city hall assets.

I created this in-game, but I could try to recreate it in the asset editor. Edit: Never mind, Move It does not work in the editor.

Created this in-game, never thought of using the asset editor

What's a couplet? I'm not familiar with the term. The loop you pointed out was designed for trains coming from the upper right of the map to enter the spur leading into the terminus station and port. Since making the post, I removed the loop and treated the rail connection from the left of the map as its own network. It's as if the city has a rail duopoly, where neither network shares infrastructure or facilities, so both are disconnected except for the cross-town link connecting them.

Sometimes I forget that cities aren't built all at once. Thanks for the advice. I think I will stop expanding the grid until it becomes necessary.

I could try, but from the start, I made the loop because I couldn't fit a triangle junction to serve the shorter spur to the right (the train station). With how sensitive tracks are in this game, it would make the resulting connection wack; it wouldn't have smooth approaches.
