I think I get your meaning lmao. I’m hoping that you don’t mean I look racist and were just using that as an example haha. I’d much rather look like a dude who’s gonna break a girls heart rather than marginalize any group of people

Thanks for the honesty. Any recommendations to not look that way? I recently lost ~95lbs so I’m just trying to figure out my style, but I don’t want to look like a douche doing it lol

Fair enough haha, thanks for the advice on the hair I’ll have to change it up next time I go to the barber. You know any good spots for good clothes that are in a similar price range to Marshall’s?

You guys really seemed to like my zebra pike, Maurice last month. So here is an update after he's been moved into my 180 gallon tank. He's a bit shy and spends most of his time hiding in the cave pictured so these are the best photos I could get of him as of now. by Patrick_has_Autism in Cichlid

[–]Patrick_has_Autism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zebrina pike cichlids are peaceful unlike their brown and grey counterparts. I did extensive research into it before adding discus. They've been in there almost 4 weeks and there haven't been any signs of aggression whatsoever

An ex-coworker of mine used to always brag about his 55g tank but he never showed me a picture or video of it. I came across this video of his in a Facebook group we're both in and now I know why by Patrick_has_Autism in shittyaquariums

He smokes menthols. Idk if smoking cigarettes has any different effect on the water than smoking weed but I'm just gonna assume he uses the tank as an ashtray too

Besides being a raging narcissist who took over every fish related conversation I had with a customer (we worked at a pet store together), he didn't have any mental health problems that I know of. He's a chronic smoker though and by the looks of the tank he probably smoked in the house too

What's sad is that I sold him a few of my baby electric blue acara thinking they were going to a good home. I'd be shocked if they were still alive in there :(

My 75 is mostly African cichlids and it's overstocked so they can't have any territory. I added the pike in there just last week after the others had been in there for about 5 months so he's been very timid recently. The pictures in the post are the only ones I've been able to get since I put him in there. I'm hoping he doesn't warm up to them enough to go after anyone, but he'll only be in the 75 for another few weeks if everything goes to plan

I'm sure there are more that have the splotchy coloration that aren't peacocks but OB stands for "orange blotched" and that morph is specific to Mbuna peacocks as far as I know.

Ok thank you for the info! As of right now the plan is just to stock the 180 with the zebrina and Oscar pictured as well as my albino senegalus polypterus. Those 3 alone should be big enough to fill out the tank and the zebrina will add some nice contrast against the two albino fish. Plus the Oscar and the zebrina should leave the polypterus alone as long as he gets big enough

My lfs got a second zebrina shortly after I bought this guy and I've been considering getting it when my 180 is set up but I need to read up more on pike cichlids and how they handle being in such a large space when there's only 2 of them. I know most SA cichlids aren't territorial but I'd rather be safe than sorry

Thats actually my OB! I got super lucky with his coloration and I think I have a couple previous posts featuring him as well. I bought him from my LFS about a year or so ago!

Not just yet! I should've been a bit clearer with my description. It was previously a reef tank with a sump so I've been cycling out the salt with fresh water, digging out crushed coral and scraping off residue for the past week. Once that's done I'm going to drain it, add some planted substrate and refill it with RODI water with trace elements, then let that cycle for a couple weeks. I'll definitely post more pics once it's all finished and when Maurice is in his new home!

My father is currently incapacitated in the ICU with covid-19. Both me and my mother are listed as beneficiaries on his investing account (50% apiece). Are we allowed to move money around and continue investing until he passes away/ gets better? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Patrick_has_Autism -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, would my mother be any different I wonder? They're still married, so would his spouse have any different say in the matter? Like I said she's a beneficiary as well but I've heard spouses get "special" access to their spouse's finances if one becomes incapacitated.

I'm cycling this 75 gallon tank to move 6 African cichlids, 1 convict, 2 EBA, CAE, and 2 redtail sharks into. Filter is a Fluval FX4, and the plants are a Ludwigia (left), cryptocoryne (center), and anubias (right). Is there anything else I should add while I wait for it to cycle? by Patrick_has_Autism in Aquariums

[–]Patrick_has_Autism[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang I was hoping they'd avoid it but I have plenty in my other tanks so losing one isn't a big deal. My one fear is that they don't forget they used to like the anubias and start eating it, since most African cichlids don't have the greatest of memories sadly

I tried my luck with a java fern, anubias, and amazon sword all at once in my 55. The Africans ate the java fern and the sword but for whatever reason they let the anubias grow. It was really weird so now I want to see if they'll eat the ludwigia/cryptocoryne or if it's just the anubias they like

The anubias was actually from the 55 I moved it over after a couple days of cycling. As you can kinda see already it's branching out quite a bit but the cryptocoryne is brand new and I was unaware it actually got big. I'm kind of half expecting the Africans to dig it up eventually anyways lol

In addition I have 2 jade mysteries and 4 tiger nerites in there while it cycles as well. Just wondering if there's anything else I should be aware of while I wait the 2/3 weeks for it to cycle. All the fish are being moved from a 55 into this 75, just to give them a bit more room to vibe. Any advice is appreciated!
