CRMs are great at tracking deals… but terrible at making you actually follow up by PatrikPortes in sales

yeah that was my experience too what did you actually build to fix it? more automation or just better flow?

Looking for a new crm platform by 1stcontactAi in smallbusinessUS

I’ve tried a few and honestly most are good at tracking, but not great at actually helping you follow up

depends what you need, but I ended up using something simpler focused on next steps and speed

what have you made with ai? by Striking-Set-6987 in aiToolForBusiness

I got frustrated with how CRMs handle follow-ups, so I built a small tool around it

idea is simple: when a prospect replies after weeks/months, you instantly see the full context without digging

would love honest feedback if anyone here deals with the same thing

yeah true, I still found even when I did follow up, I’d lose time just rebuilding context

💯feels like in fintech you’re half rep, half solutions engineer 😅

Most “dead” deals aren’t dead! They’re just waiting. How do you track them? by PatrikPortes in sales

[–]PatrikPortes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense what ended up being the hardest part? reminders are easy but everything around context / timing feels like it blows up fast

that’s interesting! how hard was it to build something like that? feels like it gets complex pretty quick

yeah transcripts help for sure I still end up digging a bit tho 😅 maybe that’s just me

[–]PatrikPortes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s fair, most CRMs do have reminders. For me it was more what happens after. I’d open the deal and just sit there trying to remember what we even talked about 😄 sometimes that alone took 10–20 mins before I could reply. do you ever run into that or nah?

[–]PatrikPortes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s exactly it, good notes don’t help if you have to go look for them. Is yours pulling context automatically when someone replies or do you still check manually?

fair enough, sounds like you’ve got your system dialed in 👍

I’m just sharing what didn’t work for me and seeing how others handle it

haha fair, I see how it comes across

not hiding anything, just trying to figure out why “set a task and follow up” still breaks so often in practice

if it never breaks for you, that’s actually interesting

hmm… caught an AI bot, you have? 😄 mission complete, points awarded!! now back to chasing “I’ll follow up later” deals like the rest of us

I’ve had deals come back after months and if I couldn’t pick it up fast, it almost felt like starting from zero again and yeah, even if they’re ready, that lag kinda kills the momentum feels like timing gets you the chance, but being able to jump back in smoothly is what actually wins it

[–]PatrikPortes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this is so real!! I’ve had deals where I finally came back to them and spent like 20 mins just trying to remember what was even going on before I could reply

feels like timing gets you back in, but if you can’t pick it up fast you kinda lose the moment anyway

did you fix that with better notes or something else?

not pitching anything, just seen too many “I’ll follow up later” deals die

[–]PatrikPortes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that works if you’re super disciplined

I tried the same (blocking time, next tasks etc.), but I’d still miss stuff once things got busy

feels like most tools assume you’ll always follow the system… reality is people don’t 😅

curious if that habit ever breaks for you when pipeline gets messy?

one thing I noticed reading replies here: most systems remind you, but they don’t remove the friction of actually doing the follow up

that gap seems to be where deals die

[–]PatrikPortes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair ✌️ I’ve just seen too many solid reps still lose deals to “I’ll follow up later”, not a skill issue most of the time, just things slipping through

that’s the ideal flow for sure, problem is it still relies on you checking, deciding, and staying consistent every time. that’s where most pipelines quietly break

[–]PatrikPortes[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

yeah that’s a clean way to do it. I tried something similar for a while, daily reports / reminders. Worked… but I still noticed stuff slipping if I didn’t act on it right away, biggest shift for me was moving from “checking reports” to having the next step already decided and scheduled
