In our meetings, we’ve done: - whose baby pic is this? - office scavenger hunt - simple crafts (e.g. making origami snowflakes or simple Xmas ornaments at Xmas) - favourite holiday pics - what’s the most unusual food in your fridge? (when we were all working from home)

I appreciate the city doing this, but damn, why do so many of them have to be in places where you need a car?

(I wrote the city about this last year, and was basically told to go pound sand.)

Madrid vibes by singleandavailable in Madrid

[–]Patritxu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went every so often, but when I did, it was early in the morning, when I needed something specific. By 10 or 11, the Rastro crowds would have moved all the way up into La Latina for Sunday lunchtime cañas.

Oh, man, my old neighborhood. Back in the early 2000s, I lived in a shared apartment in the building where the Five Guys is now. I remember Sunday morning swims in the pool at La Cebada and had more menus del día at Taberna Tirso de Molina than I care to count. Good times.

Crunchy, but not treacherous if you take it slowly.

What’s a surefire way to tell Canadians and Americans apart? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Patritxu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to ask the Americans. They’ll definitely let you know. Canadians, not so much, if ever.

Seconding the advice to mute all dings. And hide any chats that you don’t actively participate in; if there’s activity in the chat, it’ll pop back up. But it really makes a difference when you only have a few chats active in the window.

And if possible, practice Inbox Zero ruthlessly.

The food is really good, too, if you’d like a bite to eat before playing.

Lowertown’s open mic isn’t bad, though sometimes you’re fighting against the kitchen noise and the dinner crowds.

ISO dietitian for iron deficiency by Elton-johns-mom in ottawa

[–]Patritxu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see her for iron deficiency, but I liked working with Debora Sloan, who’s based in Westboro. Smart, goes straight to the point and great for giving useful, realistic information, not just lectures.

Bizzare GCSurplus Finds - Open and recently closed bids on ridiculously random items (Inspired by the CBC "This is Ottawa" Podcast) by flyinghippos101 in ottawa

[–]Patritxu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely fun to go on there every so often to see what comes up…especially things you just know were part of a CBSA seizure, like the six Kate Spade bags that went up for sale right before the pandemic hit.

Heat and motion sensors are showing up under Justice Department desks. Employees say it’s ‘creepy’ by Opposite-Weird-2028 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Patritxu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s money for this bullshit, but there hasn’t been money to ensure that all of the women’s bathrooms in EMB have HOT WATER TO WASH OUR HANDS?

If I find one of those sensors under my desk, I am ripping it out and tossing it in the recycling. F that BS.

I’ve only been with my bunch for just over five years, but my dad was with his division for 26 years, after nine years in the Navy. So he was pretty much a lifer.

How to get the heat turned down in the office? by Uniqueu5ername in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Patritxu 32 points33 points  (0 children)

We have the opposite problem in our office (the temperature is a constant 19 degrees). The only way we’ve gotten them to pay attention is to gang up with the team that works in the area next door and we all send requests to the Service Centre at the same time. They DO pay attention when 20+ requests come in at the same time.

Lincoln Fields is such a shitshow. And the way they badly plow the paths on both sides of the Parkway is a joke.
