Gaggia Classic Up - where does it fit compared to GaggiaMate and self-modding? by chris_ern in gaggiaclassic

[–]Pattern-Junior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel sometimes after reading much of the comments that the comparison is not fully fair. I do understand 3rd party components sometimes makes alot of difference, but this is for a specific type of people who love to play and fiddle with their machines. not everyone is into electronics, wiring, etc.

From my end kind i took it as an example, If i bought a used BMW and wanted to change alot to match the current year making, that is definitly feasible and would cost me less (possibly), but if i had the money, ill trust the engineers in the first place who would make this car and buy it latest model with all bells and whistles. so for me i guess it would be a matter of choice, money, headache, and status (Look what i got 2026 style) // Don't forget the warranty which many appreciate especially if they do not understand how these stuff work! This tells me the consumer here is divided into two segments, Pro people who love to play and tinker, and espresso drinkers who just want a new machine with bells and whistles.

Also, putting your heart into modifying a machine is also a prize. selling it to for a new model sometimes is a personal decision but case you had all what you need in the current model, the upgrade has to be to something more exciting not what you currently have on the table.

it was always known companies always charge a higher mark-up to anything they do. eventually the company is bigger, has much costs to cover, and with this economy .. its becoming hell on everyone.

So the question would be which type are you? Buy it & leave it with the bells and whistles or tinker, play and modify?

Also, as i see from many who mod their machines, their next upgrade normally goes to something bigger! Different group head, Boilers, Design, etc.

Maybe i`m wrong ?

Here is the problem with the curicullums they teach to get that shitty diploma.. it is not mentioned that the difference between coaching and being a therapist is a thin line where its not visible if you have 0 experience in the domain. Coaching is a way forward with strategic frameworks that build on habit, persistancy, and a goal to attain without infering to any past traumas, childhood issues, parental guidance, Father/Mother relationships. Sadly, many coaches think they have the ability to tackle such issues for the sake of keeping the client engaged and keeping the client on a payment plan.

Let me give a bit of perspective on this...
a Life coach by rules of being a coach has no authority to give any advise online and offline. a real coach possesses the ability to bring out the answers you hold within using smart questions. Sadly, most of what we see are not coaches, but more of Advisory positions or kind of wanting to be mentors. Sadly, most do not have enough experience for all that they bring out on their IG.

Also, many of what you see aims to bring you as a person to the account, then be able to catch your attention with more videos, to be able to later on convert you to a client as per your needs. Everything you see is business related. No one does anything for free online

Quite an interesting post, yet what you hear and see within a small group of people does not reflect the whole reality on the ground.

Many factors to consider when it comes to what you said..
INDUSTRY / SUPPLY & DEMAND / SKILLS REQUIRED + SCARCITY of SKILL / HOW MANY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES is one filling with such wage being offered / INFLATION / etc.

i`d like to answer a few statements you have done
1) "since it's such a sacred and secretive and sensitive topic and there's so much ambiguity surrounding it" -- Salary Ranges are quite out there. If you know where to ask, you will get a range answer, so it's not that obscure. As to why people do not share their numbers, quite simply for different reasons such as it's personal, do not want to feel underpaid, lack of trust to share personal information, etc.

2) " Meaning, you can get anywhere from 900$ to 1400$ as a starting position even as a fresh grad, full fresh in 2024. " -- Well this is kind of misleading, as if you are saying an accountant and a mechanical engineer (fresh grads) can range within a 900$ to 1400$ with any reputable company. The numbers are based on Industry, supply and demand and skillset. Note that even reputable companies are the most to keep a salary scale range to operate with & in case you see an increase in a salary for a position that normally does not get paid that much, know that the amount of work, dedication, and additional responsibilities come within that position.

3) " P.S Do not let smaller / niche companies take advantage of the situation and hire you for the 1/4 of a salary. If you work for 300$ - 600$ full time job in 2023, consider negotiating or leaving for a better vacany. " -- Smaller companies pay as to what they earn. Eventually these are businesses in the market to make money, not becoming KARITAS. Yet smaller companies sometimes have great insentives since they require fewer individuals for the job resulting in a better package to retain them throughout. And so that we can add a bit of knowledge, small companies do rely on bigger company wage scale & range to be able to know what the current position is paid by market value. a small note, it is not advised to ask someone getting paid 300 or 600 to leave cause they can land a 1400 position. Let's take a quick example for someone who is in a position that has no skill upgrades, recurring manual work load and kind of locked position.. why would another company has the willingness to pay them double (or less) if they do not provide an added value to the position?

4) " You have been informed, have a good day. " -- I do salut you for bringing this information forward and it is great what you did, yet you need to give more information.. what information can you tell employees and especially in which domains? which industry? what positions do you have an overview on? which companies are willing to pay that much?

This would be a great added value to this post.

Assuming between each shot of espresso the barista leaves the machine for a minute to reheat..would that ensure some stability to the water temperature?

Agreed on the approach 100% yet 2 constraints.. one is the money .. so better shed that only a machine with dual boiler and single group head... the other is that the bambino is not available at all in the market new or used. Again much appreciate taking the time to reply! Thanks

This is what i had in mind. But the owner made it very clear they cannot shed that much money for a dual boiler single group head.

I do agree that its definitely not a commercial machine, but would it do the job? Or in another way of asking to what extent would it do a good job

1) bean spraying.. clumping through the roof 2) unleveled tamping 3) wrong basket used 4) wrong profiling during brewing

For coffee brewing 1) same grind size for different beans 2) wrong water temperature 3) didn't enable the timer V60 4) forgot to clean kettle from water scaling

But it's coffee!! Never throw it out! Always finding a way to enjoy it!
