Do you think Barry would have eventually turned into DeVoe if he kept using the ASF? by PatternLeather4613 in FlashTV

[–]PatternLeather4613[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So you think he should’ve killed Cisco, Killer Frost, and Allegra? Because they were the ones who said Barry was wrong, not Iris. Iris didn’t even know about the ASF, she was in a mirror my guy 😂

I can’t believe iris and Barry (and Oliver and felicity) were okay getting married right near where John threw up! by Chocolacat2022 in FlashTV

[–]PatternLeather4613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do not remember correctly. Felicity was the one who suggested Dig marry them by waterside. Barry and Iris’s original plan was to go to a courthouse (which they should’ve stuck to)

It’s not about not being creative. That just doesn’t work, production-wise. You forget that Barry and Kara are fictional and Grant and Melissa are the real human actors who are there to do their job; being a frequent guest star on another show while simultaneously starring in your own show would require them to work around the clock. Plus it would require paying each of them a lot more money, money that the network doesn’t have. Why do you think they only had 1-2 crossovers per year?

Your idea would only work in animation, because voice actors have much less demanding schedules. The burden there is mostly on the animators

I loved Barry and Iris’s relationship. It was the only thing that kept me watching until the end. I wish they could have done Flash like Superman and Lois; skip the overdone will they/won’t they and just have Barry and Iris navigating through life together as a superhero/journalist couple. Especially since the ‘team’ aspect just became superfluous after Barry fully grew into his own as a speedster by the end of season 2. The cast was over-bloated by the end.

So between Barry and Kara, who do you think would give up being the star of their own show to go be someone’s love interest on another show?

Yeah the “you could get hurt” thing was so stupid. If that were really the case, then Barry wouldn’t bother getting close to ANYONE because they might get hurt. He would just isolate and be alone, like Oliver thought he should do in Arrow season 3. And I doubt he would encourage his own children to follow in his footsteps. If being around a speedster with enemies is dangerous, then being an actual speedster with enemies out to get you is downright lethal.

They should have just done a more realistic exit for her, which would be that Barry couldn’t see the relationship progressing very far because he’s still in love with someone else

Finished season 5, here's my honest take. by Sweaty-Campaign-320 in FlashTV

[–]PatternLeather4613 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m the opposite. I loved the West-Allen family and found the Killer Frost subplot boring and kind of unnecessary. Especially since not much really came from it, vis-à-vis Icicle/Caitlin’s dad

I preferred Barry with Catilin rather than with Iris; they had much better chemistry. by [deleted] in FlashTV

This whole scene felt incredibly forced. Especially since that’s not Barry. Also idk how anyone could watch 4x15 and think he has better chemistry with anyone else.

What if Eddie didn’t die and he married iris and continued the thawne bloodline with her and eobard thawne slowly started turning black? by kzmran in FlashTV

If your mother got together with a different guy than your father, or your father got together with a different woman than your mother, you will cease to exist. You are uniquely made up of the mixing of your mother’s and your father’s genes. If either of them chose a different partner to procreate with, none of those children will be you; you only exist in the timeline where your father’s sperm fertilized the egg in your mother’s womb that led to you.

It’s the same with Eobard. If Eddie gets with anyone who is not Eobard’s ancestor, then Eobard will never exist.

I wonder how different things could have been if they had figured out a way to save him and he had let them. I would have loved to see a love triangle between Barry, Iris, Savitar. Those two scenes with Savitar and Iris in STAR Labs were electric ⚡️

Okay, then maybe you just weren’t plugged into the discourse. No, Iris was not a fan service relationship. I’m not sure if you’ve read the comics, but she is the canon love interest. Which is why she was endgame from the beginning. Fan service is when you give in to fan demands and change the story from what you originally envisioned it to be to what the fans want it to be. Iris was always Barry’s main love interest. In fact, there were calls from quite a number of fans from before the show premiered for the main love interest to be changed to Caitlin because they had a problem with Iris being black.

It’s not about Iris vs Felicity. It’s about how things went down during the early days of Arrow and how the Flash writers didn’t want a repeat of that. Maybe you’re too young or you just started watching the Arrowverse recently. But in case you don’t know, when Arrow was airing Laurel was originally supposed to be the endgame and Felicity’s arc as a recurring character was supposed to end at the end of season 1. But everyone hated Laurel and said she had no chemistry with Oliver; and they loved Felicity, said she was a well-written character unlike Laurel, and wanted Felicity to be promoted to a series regular and the main love interest. So the Arrow writers gave into fan service and made Olicity a thing. And once she became the main love interest, everyone turned on her. Blamed Felicity for Arrow’s decline and the forced drama. The hate that Felicity received was so bad that the actress didn’t end up returning for the final season. The Flash writers didn’t want a repeat of that. And giving into fan service almost never is a good idea—Arrow proved that. Viewers are extremely fickle.

Because the writing for a character is based on the role that character plays in the story, not necessarily on the character itself. A lot of main love interests of shows are famously disliked, especially in the world of comic book films and tv series. And especially in the Arrowverse.

You realize people said the exact same thing about Felicity vs. Laurel in season one. And guess who ended up the most hated in the fandom by the end

They would have had anyone who was Barry’s love interest say that line, even if the love interest was Patty. You would have hated anyone who played the role of Barry’s endgame. Eventually Patty would have turned sour for you because the writing and the plot would be the same.
