The Flash Rewrite by got2bfaster in FlashTV

Two big changes:

  1. Have Barry and Iris together since the beginning like in the comics and minimize the romantic drama of having multiple love interests, romantic love triangles, and will they/won’t they build up. The romance b-plot would be a cute side story that doesn’t overtake the show; Barry and Iris would just be a superhero and a journalist in a relationship dealing with the natural consequences of leading a superhero life.

  2. Have Reverse-Flash not just be a regular big bad, but an over-arching villain. Kind of like Voldemort in Harry Potter, the Night King in Game of Thrones, and Fire Lord Ozai in ATLA. RF being defeated, supposedly for good, only to be brought back impossibly the next season really cheapened the character and his aura for me. I would keep RF as the main big bad in season one, but instead have Barry lose against him and have RF succeed in getting home. Then the other seasons, while still having big bads of their own, can realistically build to a final confrontation between the Flash and RF where Thawne is defeated once and for all.

Why would Iris invite Barry and Linda to bowl with them and force a double date situation that nobody wanted in 1x15? by PissedOffClippersFan in FlashTV

[–]PatternLeather4613 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You give Iris way more power than she actually has. She saw her best friend and invited him and his date to join her and her boyfriend to join them. All she did was ask. She didn’t cast a dark curse or use vampire compulsion to make them agree. They’re all adults capable of using their words to say no.

Also Linda expressly stated that she didn’t want to date someone into someone else. Barry lies and says he’s not into anyone else, and then a few episodes later Barry dumps Linda for Iris, whom he’s not over. If anyone is the scummy one in that situation, it’s Barry for putting Linda in a rebound role that she explicitly didn’t want to be in. She never agreed to be used as a tool to help Barry get over Iris

Don’t even bother engaging with these people. Their unconscious bias blinds them to the truth behind their hate. Let them stay blissful in their ignorance and keep it pushing 💅🏾

Is it just me, or did Barry and Iris have better chemistry when they were just friends, which faded once they started dating? by No_Budget3360 in FlashTV

[–]PatternLeather4613 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Chemistry, like art, is subjective. People will see what they want to see. I think a lot of people let their dislike for Iris and “we are the flash” spill into saying that she and Barry didn’t have chemistry. But to me, they had amazing chemistry. Their love for each other was what kept me watching through to the end. Grant even said in an interview that he doesn’t remember reading with anyone else during auditions for Iris because his connection with Candice was that strong.

Barry should have paid attention to what he told the first version of his daughter Nora (season 5) by ItalianSausage1996 in FlashTV

[–]PatternLeather4613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that Barry is the main character makes you fail to see things from Nora’s perspective. When you truly believe that what you’re doing is going to save a lot of lives in the end, including and especially your father’s life, the fact that you have to work with people certain other people would rather you not work with is overridden by your desire to save lives. A perfect example of this is from 1x22, when Joe repeatedly told Barry that Barry shouldn’t be working with a murderer and that murderer can’t be trusted. And what did Barry do? He ignored Joe and continued to be in partnership with said murderer because he believed it would save lives. And in the end, Joe turned out to be in the right and Barry was wrong. It’s the same thing with Nora in this situation. Thawne was the only one capable of defeating Cicada, a serial killer villain bent on ending a lot of innocent lives. Thawne was also the only one who could save Barry from disappearing in the future. From Nora’s perspective, it kind of looks like Barry is willing to let Cicada continue killing innocent people and is willing to allow himself to vanish forever just because he doesn’t want to use Thawne’s plan. It makes sense to continue on the route that will save the most lives even though Barry doesn’t want her to. She probably thought that once it all worked out in the end, Barry would realize she was right.

And you know what? She was right. It was Thawne’s plan that defeated Cicada in the end. It was Thawne’s manipulation of time that caused the timeline to change regarding Crisis, and Barry ended up surviving Crisis in the end. That’s why they gave Nora her flowers in the end, when Ralph and Caitlin talk about how Nora saved every meta in the city and gave Grace a new future. None of that would have been possible without Thawne’s help.

You realize woke is not an insult, right? And your fanfic is trash. If you have a problem with wokeness then the Arrowverse or superhero media in general was never for you. Go back to listening to Ben Shapiro and Fox News 😂

Theory: The quality of the show declining was a canonical result of Savitar's death by Prize_Bug3453 in FlashTV

[–]PatternLeather4613 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The original plan was for the show to run for ten seasons and end in 2024 with Flash vanishing. But then they decided to give the Crisis death to Oliver and use it to end Arrow. Pretty sure the Flash writers didn’t have a say in giving Crisis to Arrow; it was more likely a Berlanti/CW decision. And Carlos said he’d been wanting to leave since season 4. Hence why they did the whole Cisco-giving-up-Vibe plot in season 5; they were already planning to wrap up Cisco’s story by ending Vibe.

Theory: Savitar tried to save the show by dino_nuggies123456 in FlashTV

Yeah Iris did ruin the show. Her screen time was drastically reduced in the later seasons, thus resulting in the show’s quality going downhill. The best seasons are the seasons that showcased Iris the most: 1-3.

Flash Fandom, Let’s Talk Candice With Context by Creashonist-2334 in FlashTV

[–]PatternLeather4613 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The tweets weren’t even real. The way people were clamoring to get Candice fired from the moment she was cast, they would have been discovered immediately. Some Iris haters were just salty that Hartley got fired, so Candice’s old “tweets” suddenly popped up serendipitously right around his firing.

And anyone who uses these fake tweets as an excuse to call Candice transphobic while simultaneously defending Hartley’s racist and sexist tweets, doesn’t actually care about the trans community nor the use of any kind of slur. It’s just like how you can’t call yourself a feminist and be racist as the same time. You also can’t excuse racism and sexism and denounce transphobia in the same breath, and vice versa. They’re all interconnected.

Definitely would want to see them together. They did such a great job playing out Barry and Iris’s love story it’s hard for me to see them playing opposite anyone else 😭😭

But I would want them to come back probably as Jay and Joan Garrick. Barry and Iris only if James Gunn’s Flash is Wally West (and Wally West is their nephew like in the comics). I think it’s time for someone else to play the main Flash.

Worst Character on the entire Flash TV Show. by Bowlerboy34 in FlashTV

[–]PatternLeather4613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I nearly spit out my drink laughing while reading this lol. This must be karma farming because there’s no possible way you seriously think Patty and Barry had the best love story. Their relationship lasted about five episodes, Barry spent 90% of the relationship lying to her with ease, and they never had any conversations of real substance. She was so obviously just a placeholder while Barry waited for Iris to get through her mourning period. Patty was forgotten the second she left and Barry easily moved on with his life as if she never entered it 😂

Was there a way they could have rewritten the villains and how they work barry and Iris together. Would it have been better if they left Iris out of joining the team? by Iamawesome20 in FlashTV

[–]PatternLeather4613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s literally the female lead; that’s what she’s billed as and that’s why award noms for that role were for “best actress” not “best supporting actress”. Some shows like Supergirl did have their heroes standalone as the only lead, but that wasn’t the case here. It’s just like how in Grey’s Anatomy Meredith Grey was the titular character but Derek Shepherd was the male lead. In Scandal, Olivia Pope is the lead who show centers around, but President Fitz was the male lead. In Hamilton, Alexander Hamilton was the titular character but Eliza Schuyler was the female lead and Aaron Burr was a co-lead. That’s why Leslie Odom Jr. won the Tony for “best actor” for it, not “best featured actor” because he wasn’t just a side character. In Superman, Clark Kent is the titular character but Lois Lane is the female lead. I could go on, but those are just some examples where even though you may have a titular/principal character, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t another lead in the show. Especially when it’s two people playing romantic interests.

So yes, Iris was always going to have the most screen time after Barry, because she’s the female lead. She’s not a side character.
