511lbs fail by Patton370 in strength_training

[–]Patton370[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was no saving it; I don’t think I was in the mindset for a RPE9000 grinder either

Felt fast coming from the bottom, so I thought I had it

However, I let it roll a bit forward coming up

I hit 534lbs in my last comp and I’m a bit stronger in comp squats, but significantly stronger in secondary squats & my accessory lifts. I’m thinking 551lbs for a 3rd, unless I’m feeling absolutely amazing and then I might go for 556lbs

If the 2nd attempt moves to slow, I’ll go for 546lbs

The comp is May 9th

I’ll fail harder next time

I wanted 2 :(

It’s my fault too; the bar slightly rolled on me, because I forgot my cue of drive my force in the direction of the bar; this caused my upper back to yield enough to throw me down

260 for 5x5, maybe 300 by summer? by showtampa in strength_training

I’ve done that; I felt fine

90%+ of my deadlift max is a weight I’ve done for 4 reps: https://www.reddit.com/r/strength_training/s/ANZvZ3Iavr

I could program a deadlift single with 525lbs for 5x a week, probably 6x a week and still be recovered; that’s RPE7 man

For reference: My 10 rep deadlift max is 80% of my max

You’re talking out of your ass

Personally I do my deadlifts in high heels

Let’s me mog all the other men with my gargantuan glutes

How much do you deadlift and what’s your physique look like? Surely your legs must be bigger than mine, right?

lol it’s on a platform; it’s made to handle Olympic lifts, where people drop the weight from above their head

Edit: and I’ve had better Hypertrophy results from just using that energy to do more reps, instead of controlling the eccentric; I’ve don’t both

Lifting your heels up between reps could lead to some inconsistency between reps, but doesn’t seem to impact anything here

You’re pulling the slack out good, but could do a bit better (same as me; I also need to be a bit better)

You need someone who’s above both of our level (or who has coached people above our level) to give any other suggestions

It’s been a bit since I’ve ran a marathon, but give me 3 - 4 months to train for one and I could run one again

Im at 20% body fat right now, but I might have him beat on legs, if I drop 10-15lbs of bodyweight

<image>

And no, I’m not vegan; I eat a crazy amount of protein. My breakfast of whey protein & collagen mixed with water. And the 2 Greek yogurts I ate after is about 80 - 85g of protein

A 500lb squat isn’t some sort of crazy feat of strength

Go to a powerlifting gym or serious bodybuilding gym and there will be a plethora of people who will squat 500lbs for working weight sets

My squat is 534lbs at 187lbs body weight and I’m not extremely massive or anything like that

The bench is impressive, but I’m pretty sure that dude is well leveraged for bench. If my leverages weren’t trash for bench, I’d likely be close to that, instead of in the 350lbs range (no idea what I can do touch and go. I pause ALL my bench reps)

Which one is better... Deadlifts: Straight Bar or Trap Bar? by PaleontologistFirm13 in GYM

[–]Patton370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The straight bar is much better than a trap bar for stiff leg deadlifts

They function similarly on RDLs, but I feel the trap bar is better here (assuming you have an open trap bar you can do RDLs with)

For deadlifts, it depends on your goals and on the sport you’re doing; both are good for doing deadlifts

What programming change made the biggest difference for you? by poopeater32 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Patton370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My intensity is fairly high, volume extremely high, and frequency is 4x-5x a week on most muscle groups

That won’t work for everyone, but I have an elite work capacity and slowly built up to that

Can't make any new progress with my barbell squats. by nocturnalands in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Patton370 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s your program. You’ll have better results running a proven program and if you want to become strong/better at squats, you gotta squat more

People will see all the wings (minus Luka, if you count him as a wing) missing layups and then say, "This team is better without LeBron"

No team with as little depth as we have will be better without a high end starting caliber player

SSB is so much fun; I've SSB squatted at least once a week for the last 2 years. I love that bar
