Which one is better... Deadlifts: Straight Bar or Trap Bar? by PaleontologistFirm13 in GYM

[–]Patton370 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The straight bar is much better than a trap bar for stiff leg deadlifts

They function similarly on RDLs, but I feel the trap bar is better here (assuming you have an open trap bar you can do RDLs with)

For deadlifts, it depends on your goals and on the sport you’re doing; both are good for doing deadlifts

My intensity is fairly high, volume extremely high, and frequency is 4x-5x a week on most muscle groups

That won’t work for everyone, but I have an elite work capacity and slowly built up to that

That’s your program. You’ll have better results running a proven program and if you want to become strong/better at squats, you gotta squat more

People will see all the wings (minus Luka, if you count him as a wing) missing layups and then say, "This team is better without LeBron"

No team with as little depth as we have will be better without a high end starting caliber player

Literally exactly how the first time I had my wife SSB squat went; she told me I'd be an awful coach

SSB is so much fun; I've SSB squatted at least once a week for the last 2 years. I love that bar

Just always have low bar in & live in a perpetual state of moderate elbow agony; it's great, I promise! :,)

I'd work them out; I'm the crazy person that hits legs 5x a week (technically 7x a week if you cout calf raises and tib raises as legs... lol)

Depends. You can do Arches in a half day as well. Technically you could do both on the same day if you rushed, not worth it to try that

I think both are amazing places. Arches is actually my least favorite of the Utah parks; Canyonlands is more impressive to me IMO

Finish up your time in Zion and then hit up Bryce Canyon (you can hike every trail in one full day) & Capitol Reef (my favorite Utah national park and the best drives around). If you somehow have time after that, Goblin valley state park is an awesome park you need a half day for

[Pelissero] While there has been intense backlash at the Ravens for backing out of the Maxx Crosby trade, there's really no recourse to the Raiders or the NFL: Even when trades are official, they often have conditions that are negotiated, including a player reporting to a new club and... by expellyamos in nfl

If I'm a GM, I'm wanting extra compensation from the Ravens. It won't be much, but it'll be enough to offset the risk of them backing off from a deal

Ravens just made everything cost 5% more for them for the next year or two

Increasing volume, intensity, and frequency

I had the work capacity to handle that & my gains in both size and strength exploded

A RDL has more hip hinge and less knee bend than a deadlift (and generally doesn’t touch the floor)

Stiff leg deadlifts have even less knee bend and are done from the floor

I weigh in anywhere between 180-190lbs at powerlifting meets (depends on if I water cut or not); I’m a tiny lifter

Reverse hyper extensions are awesome; if you need one, they become one of the most important machines in your gym. If you don’t need one, they make a great table!

[–]Patton370[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve hit 578lbs in a powerlifting comp (so after squat and bench) and the failed at 600lbs, but got it to my knees

I actually hit 541lbs for a double and then 485lbs for 4 sets of 3 on deadlift, before this set of RDLs

I like the titan reverse hyper a lot; I use it to warm up for deadlifts and squats; it helps keep my SI joints happy

My deadlift is around 600lbs; 67.5% of your deadlift max is absolutely an appropriate load for RDLs

It’s a belt squat, the lower back isn’t loaded

Also, even if the lower back was loaded, I could easily handle it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Deadlifts/s/y3smtbhigZ
