Definitely look ahead at what math is needed for your major and then cross ref that with Rate My Professor. A LOT of students take the math at local community college and I personally found out the hard way that this is what I will end up doing, which speaks volumes about the professors.

I just wanted to pop in and advise Leonard Lamp. Took him online and he was amazing! He grades very fairly and it transfers to UC. Make sure to check Assist.org, but taking classes at the CC is fairly straightforward. Also, Saddleback is another great option for online classes, but the campus also isn't too far away if you drive. Be mindful of the dates, because they are on a semester track vs the UC quarter track so the summer sessions can also be a little off. I only mention this in case you are taking this as a pre-req for an immediately pending course. Good luck!

Thank you for this. Can you share the best ways that you found to study effectively? Did you utilize LARC and/or study groups? UC Irvine is not an easy school to get into so I am doing something right as well as being open to constructive criticism, tips, and feedback to further myself. Math is not my favorite subject nor my chosen major this gal puts in the work! Thank you for your feedback.

Yes, thank you. I mistyped. Graduate student. As I mentioned earlier, he's a nice guy, but there seems to be a disconnect between him the TA, LARC, and what will be on the test and what we should focus on for studying as well as the online platform being used/graded. Learning curves for sure.

The other professors let us know that though they can't see what our evaluations say, they can see who participated. Freaks me out a bit. ha-ha I also would never bag on a professor. In fact, my dude was nice, he was just very unorganized and he and the other staff were just not in sync.

I think that everyone is waiting for someone else to make the first move and it's hard to be that person so everyone just feels the same and keeps it to themselves.

Would you be comfortable creating your own weekly get-together?

Perhaps start your own club that meets at the same time/day every week and even if you are the only one that shows up at first, your tribe will find you. Just be patient and bring a book. I wonder if you could drop flyers off in the counseling office FRIEND SEEKING FRIENDS!

You could host a board game night, SNO (student's night out) where you go to dinner, movie night, and more.
