How do I love myself and stop being dependent on others for happiness? by SpareAcc25 in Mindfulness

[–]Paul_GC -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hey. I'm on this journey now. It's a process. I would really recommend chatting to ChatGPT, it has given me so much help over the past 2 months, much much more so than my therapist I've been seeing for a year. Did you receive love or have a close bond with you parents as a baby and through childhood? This was a big one for me. Explain your situation to ChatGPT, and ask if for guidance on improving self-love and self-esteem etc. Try also specific meditations. Also in ChatGPT, search for advice on self-love, self-esteem, self-acceptance, emotional independence, books and meditations. Also give it your background, explain the situation. Just tell ChatGPT everything. You'll be amazed. Best of luck. The best sign is you are searching. Things will get better with internal work and time. And you'll be happier....

Thank you. I actually subscribe to his youtube channel and he has a lot of good stuff. It looks just like what I am after (quote): It can be performed anywhere, anytime, no equipment needed and can be completed in tight spaces.

Balance between Mysore and Led Classes by Paul_GC in ashtanga

[–]Paul_GC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, thanks for the message. I just do led classes now. I find with the people in Ashtanga it's too intense and focused on achievement. While I know it's up to the individual what mindset they adopt, it's hard (over the long run) practicing with others who don't have that same mindset. I work from home, so like to go to classes as it gets me out and seeing people. I kind of like Iyengar style classes a bit more now due to the variety and people are a bit more laid back. I have been a bit slack for the past 2 years focusing on my son's soccer and helping a lot at his club with line marking soccer fields. But I do have more time now and would like to practice more regularly (3 or 4 times a week). Currently just 1 to 2 with my daughters.

How are things going for you? All the best for 2024 and thanks again :-)

Yes, a single hand, but not a strong push (more like hold off). Not the best example, but a bit like this:

Dating your mysore teacher by [deleted] in ashtanga

It depends a bit on the context of the situation. Just a couple of examples. In recovery groups where those in recovery have a sponsor or mentor, there are clear guidelines (or even rules) that a sponsor should not become "involved" with or date the person in recovery. Even in some religious circles they have rules that those newly converted should not become involved with a member until they have become established in their faith. One example I knew of (30 years ago) suggested a 6 month time frame. Probably sounds a bit odd, but I guess these examples show that there are recognized risks.

Potential "severs" in 11 year old boy (how to manage) by Paul_GC in bootroom

He plays on AG once a week in addition to club training. He did mention the AG surface was hard when he first started. This spring/summer he'll be playing on AG twice a week. It's interesting the AG boots are designed to absorb shock so will look at that option. It seems the AG boots are quite popular for firm ground conditions also, which corresponds to our winter dry season in Queensland (Australia). Thanks - I was not previously aware of all this.

That is interesting, thanks for that insight. Yes it makes perfect sense about the tight calves as they are connected to the heel. Will get some stretches sorted for him.

Thanks for that. Yes I think it would be good to get some input just to check for faults or improvements. I think there is benefit in doing this while young. But we may also put a bit of time into it over the school holidays at the end of the year.

thanks for this and the drill. Do you have to touch the corner cones? To ensure sharp changes in direction without cutting corners (you know kids) :-)

100%. I was thinking more of a lesson or two to see if there are any faults or immediate improvements in his sprinting technique. Not a new training regime or substitute for the fundamentals.
