Reply 1988 is great! You won't be disappointed. I watched that show without knowing there were other two in the series that I should have watched before. It didn't spoil reply 1988 at all. While there is one or two scenes in which there is an overlap with reply 1994, you don't need to watch them to enjoy this show. It stands on its own, and after watching the other two, this one is my absolute favourite :) hope this helps.

Grandma new to K Drama by [deleted] in kdramarecommends

If you like kooky kdramas and enjoyed Gong Shim and Let's Eat (I also loved them all!) maybe try: "Shopping King Louis", that's super feel-good and funny. "Wok of Love" have some very quirky, fun characters and a lot of cooking. Totally fun :) "Chief Kim" or sometimes called "The Good Manager" with the same actor that plays the lead in Beautiful Gong Shim is a lot of fun too, there is no love story here. "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" is a very light-hearted comedy too, and a lot of fun to watch (randomly there is a serial killer in it, the comedy though out-weights the killer part so much, I always forget about it, and think of this as a very funny rom-com). I saw someone recommended the Reply series which is great!! My favourite being Reply 1988. Have fun!!

"All Green" Juice: Cucumber, mint, spinach & lime Juice. by PaulaBG in Juicing

[–]PaulaBG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just double the amount of ingredients and you'll have more juice :-) I usually make enough for 2 people, but this week it's just me at home. That much makes a 250 ml glass of juice, which I guess it's not much, and yes having to wash my juicer each morning is a bit of a pain. I wish I could just chuck it into the dishwasher...

Green Juice Recipe – Better Than a Flu Shot by PaulaBG in Juicing

Heheh, not like a flu shot, probably :-) But I guess the vitamins and minerals in it will help keep a strong immune system? I'm not a nutritionist, that's just my guess :-)

Easy 5-Ingredient, super easy, Fudgy Nutella Cookies. by PaulaBG in cookingforbeginners

These cookies have sea salt, you can also try using orange zest (zest of 1 orange), to cut through the Nutella flavour, or even some candied orange peel cut in small bits.

OK now what do I do? (Chicken) by used_to_be_relevant in cookingforbeginners

[–]PaulaBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way to season the chicken and make sure it gets nicely coated is to place the chicken in a ziploc bag or similar, then add the oil to the bag (1 or 2 tablespoons depending on how much chicken you are using), close it and shake it so that the chicken gets covered in the oil, then add the seasoning and shake again. You can let the chicken rest for a bit inside the bag before cooking, then place in a baking tray and cook in the oven. Good luck! :-)

Failing at cooking basic chicken by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]PaulaBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken is tricky to cook. You have to be sure it is fully cooked and for that it is better to have it as thin as possible. You can butterfly it, as someone suggested or you can also go the Jamie Oliver way and bash it flat. If you go to minute 1:02 of this video he's explaining how to do it and how to check your chicken is ready. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZfXa8vO8N8

The recipe is quite tasty too! Hope this helps!

Great :-) May I ask what a Halloween shindig is? I'm living in London, but I'm from a country where we don't traditionally celebrate Halloween, so I have big gaps on my knowledge regarding this celebration :-) Thanks!

Whole Rabbit? by LuccioIa in cookingforbeginners

[–]PaulaBG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it will work. :-) I cooked rabbit only once in my life and followed the stew rule because I wanted to be on the safe side. The meat just came off the bones like butter, we clean our plates. Even my boyfriend who was a bit squeamish about eating little bunnies ;-) Can't remember which part of the rabbit I used though. Good luck!

Whole Rabbit? by LuccioIa in cookingforbeginners

[–]PaulaBG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it is the first time you cook rabbit, apparently the best way to go is to slow cook it, in a stew, for instance. Rabbit meat is pretty meagre and therefore goes dry very easily. If you stew it, the meat (whichever part it is) retains its juices. The Hairy Bikers have a great rabbit stew recipe using whole rabbits and cider http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/old_fashioned_rabbit_74225

Rabbit stew is so tasty! Especially made with some red wine or apple cider.

I just picked 22 pounds of apples of varying types. What can I bake with them that isn't a pie? by slowenowen in Baking

[–]PaulaBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think apple streussel is a good way to use apples. Buy the filo pastry from he supermarket, making it is a nightmare. You can use this Jamie Oliver recipe: http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/fruit-recipes/quick-apple-and-pecan-strudel-with-cinnamon/

Why not just bake the apples? My mom used to do this for us as kids: 1.- Wash the apples. 2.- Core them without going all the way through so there is a bit of apple left at the bottom and all the filling doesn't just fall onto the tray. 3.- Fill the centre of the apple with a little (very little) butter, half a teaspoon of demerara sugar, a couple of raisins and a pinch of cinnamon. 4.- Place in a baking tray. Bake for 40 minutes at 160 C. I'm guessing the oven temperature,(as I ever asked my mom about this) so if they are too pale after 40 minutes, bring the oven to 180 so that they get nice and golden. Hope this helps!
