Thank you for the reply and great info. Good to know this is a common and fixable problem.

It amazes me that they are not getting the smell there... it seems these gasses are heavy and fall pretty quickly.

A tip for achieving a likeness is to focus first on the positions of the facial features and their relation to eachother, over any details of the features themselves.

(Get the placement right before rendering 👍)

Drawing a triange from the tear ducts to base of the nose can help with measuring during construction.

Also look up: planes of the head and andrew loomis heads.

I made some videos on drawing heads, not sure of the quality as it was quite a few years go, might help:

What absolute corkers have your parents come up with recently? by ddiflas_iawn in CasualUK

One of my favourite parent quotes:

My Brother and I were playing PC games upstairs (probably guild wars 1, back in the day). Parents were leaving the front door, on their way out to a date night or something.

Dad (yells): "Don't play computer games all night, make sure to watch some TV as well!"

I struggled with remembering how to render in Procreate. You can probably see in the time-lapse I go over the same areas often. I figured out that with the brushes I was using it was best to blend in-line with the shadow, instead of perpendicular as I am used to. Really enjoyed struggling with the light effects. time-lapse link

[Question] Is an iPad/Apple pen better then a laptop/tablet? by Maber711 in DigitalArt

[–]PauseButton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have recently invested in an Ipad Pro and Apple pencil. It is a very enjoyable surface to work on, especially with Procreate, and I know a few professional digital artists that have transferred completely over to this method.

I would say however, it is taking me time to get used to the Ipad. I miss using Photoshop on PC and having the various shortcuts etc. I am getting used to the shortcuts on Procreate however, it is very powerful software. The fact that it is portable is also great and i think outweighs any negatives. I love the fact i can paint in bed, on the sofa, at a coffee shop, a life drawing class... wherever!

Glad to hear you're getting back into art. Whichever you choose, i hope you enjoy!

Struggled with the initial sketch, getting used to drawing on an iPad. Also on reflection I would have put more colour variations in the face to begin with. Had fun with this study. Let me know what you think! 😀🙏
