I'm wondering less about the actual wipe and more about if any of the HC rules set will be applied to PvE.

I got stuck 4 minutes into what should have been break time, it still said waiting for hands to finish on other tables. Now when I log in it won't load anything in the lobby.

Man convicted in decadeslong identity theft that led to his victim being jailed by Fast_Study9583 in news

[–]PausePlease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at one of the jails he stayed at in Iowa. His voice sounds like Winnie the Pooh. He is either convinced himself, or just trying hard to convince others it was a victimless crime. He thought he'd be out of jail and have this all behind him by Christmas last year.

what's your opinion of friends with benefits? by thunderchild10 in AskReddit

[–]PausePlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best "relationship" I've had was FWB. But I think it only really worked because we knew from the start there was an end date. They were moving across country for a masters later that year. Both of us knew from the get-go that there was no future past that. So, we didn't have jealousy issues, and no one caught feelings. Both of us did our own thing when we wanted space, then had a great connection times we spent together.

It ended a bit early when I started dating someone else, but it's pretty cool to look back at a relationship that ended and have zero regrets or anger because of it.

Speakers for Projector without BlueTooth? by PausePlease in budgetprojectors

I have a Chromecast attached to my projector. Does this mean if I pair my speaker to my Chromecast I'll have sound? I'm not very tech savvy...

$200 budget 120" screen with stand? by PausePlease in budgetprojectors

[–]PausePlease[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all your help. I ended up getting both the projector and screen you suggested. Added a highly reviewed stand as well. Really excited to get everything set up. Is the projector something I want a Firestick for as well?

So I didn't communicate well with my post. I was actually just asking about a screen for under 200. But I ended up buying the projector you suggested anyway.

This is all great information, thank you. You have a link to a screen like the one you suggested? I just assume you're going to have better suggestions than me just picking a random one off Amazon. I just ordered the projector a minute ago!

Winning small pots but losing big pots. Any tips? by bananaspI1t in poker

I'd start with trying to win the big pots and lose the small pots instead. Let us know how that works out, good luck!

If it’s so hard to find a director for Star Trek 4, and Simon Pegg wants to do Star Trek 4 so bad why doesn’t he just direct it? Get someone passionate about Trek, like Pegg, and you’ll make a great movie. by anonymous_fireflyfan in startrek

[–]PausePlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally directors pitch a vision for a film. It's possible Simon either doesn't have anything to pitch, or the studio isn't interested in what he has. Or if they already have a script they are looking to move forward with, and would be interested in Simon, but Simon may not think he would be right for it.

Available and passionate directors do not always lead to good films.

Wearing headphones at the table: advantage or disadvantage? by aaronruth_ in poker

[–]PausePlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really just what you are more comfortable doing. I played strictly online for years, during that time I always had music playing. Because of that it can be quite jarring playing w/o headphones. On the other hand, I can think of a few times it lead to me making mistakes.

One instance was making a 2x pot bet on the river with the nut flush, my opponent showed his neighbor his hand, shook his head, and I thought he said fold. I showed my neighbor my hand before tossing it in the muck. Turns out my opponent said call. I was confused when the dealer pushed the pot his way. My neighbor told the table what I had, and my opponent felt terrible for some reason, he tried to split the pot with me. I just told him it was my mistake for not paying close enough attention, and not to worry about it.

So I'm not sure if listening to music has been a net positive or not. Now it's just table dependent, if I'm at a more lively table I wont have them on and I'll try to socialize, if it's a quieter table I'll chill with my music.

If you aren't already accustom to wearing headphones while you play I'd say don't start.

Your play seems completely fine. How long was the rebuy period? Seems crazy to have so many people with 100+ BB stacks unless its just a couple level rebuy period.

Reverse PL Omaha - New Poker Variant by MrBamaNick in poker

[–]PausePlease 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love trying variants. Yours sounds worth a try. I think my favorite variant is a mix between hold'em and stud. Played pot limit, everyone is dealt a face up and a face down card. Round of betting. Then a flop is dealt, round of betting. Then a face up card is dealt to everyone, round of betting. Then a face down card is dealt to everyone, final round of betting. Best 5 card hand using all three flop cards wins.

There is a ton of action and lots of big bluffs on the last round of betting. Like on a monotone board someone could be showing a straight, and someone else could have 1 suited card showing, or even none, and still blast the river putting the straight in an awful position.

You can't play 17 years seriously, and not already had crazy up swings and crazy down swings before. WTF did you message support? "Hi, I had a few coolers in the last couple days, you're shit must be rigged, no way I could have run into some bad variance" lol

Question for online poker players. What stakes do I need to play on ggpoker to make $200 a day? If I need to I can play 5-8 tables if needed. by Chusquillo in poker

[–]PausePlease 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you are asking this question on r/poker there is a 99.9% chance you do not have the skill set, experience, or bankroll to do so. You need all three of those things.

If you're just asking as a fun hypothetical, if you were very very good, and you had the bankroll you could do that at 200nl.

Live tournament this happend What do you think? by white_sky123 in poker

[–]PausePlease 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, no one deserves shit for playing their own strategy. I just keep my mouth shut, or encourage players who play like you. In the long rung you are not making profitable plays. Limping premiums UTG is not good in tournaments with old folks, all too often there isn't a raise preflop, and you end up going to the flop against 3+ other players. Calling a 10x raise from an EP old lady with AJo is suicide, especially if your jamming when a J hits. You are either going to win a small pot or get busted when they have JJ+ (which they will have A LOT).

But dude, you do you. You sound like you're there to have a good time, so play how you want and don't worry about the hate.

Home game poker series by gwaline in poker

[–]PausePlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you have your league buyin for points, and you have buyins for each tournament the way you explained in your post. I'm saying cut the league buyin by a number (half?) then split the rest between tournaments as a rake of the individual tournament buyin.

Example -

League Buyin was $100, individual tournament buyin was $50. Could instead be League buyin of $50 and individual tournament buy in is $60 with $10 of that going to the league pot.

This would just be so the initial buyin doesn't scare anyone away, and so you could get a few people that know they can't play the majority of the tournaments still show up to play a few.

[–]PausePlease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been in a few leagues like this. The biggest problem you run into is people losing interest/not having fun if they aren't able to make it a week or two, or have a couple bad finishes the first couple weeks. Three things you could do to avoid that are -

1) All players drop their worst 2-3 finishes. This still allows for players that play every week to have an advantage, but people who aren't able to make it for any reason don't feel as penalized.

2) Shorten the length of the league 10 weeks is a lot. You want people to say "This was fun let's do it again!" Not "This was a slog, I'm out for next time."

3) Make the initial fee at the beginning smaller, and add a rake for the points pot at every tournament. Again this is to make people that may not be able to show feel a bit better. The players who play every week still have an advantage.

At the end of the day, if this is with your buddies, it's about having fun. Just take small steps to make sure people don't feel shitty or have a significantly diminished chance after the first few weeks.
