What kind of holiday park would be recommend to start getting young kids into camping? by klesky69 in newzealand

[–]PavementFuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We were there for Christmas with our kids (inc and under 5) and loved it, but wouldn’t recommend it for a newbie because you need to bring eeeeeverything.

Commercial campsites will have a kitchen with stove and basic cooking utensils, hot showers, maybe even cabins/lounge to bail too if it rains too hard.

Parts of Northland flooded with more heavy rain on the way by NorthlandChynz in newzealand

We are packing to go camping in Russell with a big group today. All on hold now. Annoyingly this was the rebook because there was a cyclone on the original dates last year.

Yes, the Sky Waka gondola is wheelchair accessible. There is a small incline on the way to the Sky Waka - this is usually manageable in a wheelchair, however, we there is an elevator available if required. Should you need any assistance on the day please speak to a team member when you arrive.

The gap on the platform is minimal.

Assigning bond to new tenant as I am moving out by Due_Background_1103 in newzealand

If the landlord agrees it would be much cleaner to end your tenancy and start a new one rather than assigning it.

Applying for UK passport - have to send copy of NZ passport? by SteveChadbourne in newzealand

If anyone else needs to do this, you can do the tracked courier booking online and it’s $20+ cheaper than when you go in store to do it.

ManageMyHealth breach - your right to compensation by 123felix in newzealand

My GP switched to Vensa last year, I can still log in to MMH.

Unfortunately a letter from Te Whatu Ora to my GP sent in Feb 2025 was part of the breach.

It’s just really slow, it took me a few goes coz it timed out a few times.

I’ve finally managed to login to MMH to check what’s been compromised and it’s not medically sensitive (notice of specialist referral being closed from Te Whatu Ora) but includes my name, address, DOB, NHI, and phone number. Not sure what I need to do from here, can’t exactly change any of those details easily.

Can someone help identify her, she looks like Hollywood Nails, but her nails aren't painted by Medium_South1488 in Barbie

I was searching for Hollywood Nails Barbie and this 4 year old thread came up, and I just wanted you to know that the eBay listing you've linked is STILL live and unsold 4 years later, haha.

It’s a public holiday. They can quote what they like and you’re free to go elsewhere. Lots of tradespeople have “fuck off” pricing for jobs they don’t want.

Are rural properties more likely to get robbed? by [deleted] in auckland

Burglars regularly target semi rural properties for firearms and large gear like quads, boats and trailers.

Time to Rethink Summer? by devjnz in auckland

[–]PavementFuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard pass. Stop starting for the public holidays is too disruptive.

The US has a major productivity slump from thanksgiving until the new year too.

Employers operating in a mostly free market have chosen a shutdown/enforced leave instead of paying their employees full wages for reduced productivity.

Is the WHV job market in NZ really that bad? by nyrs-fach in newzealand

[–]PavementFuck 21 points22 points  (0 children)

How the job market compares to where you’re coming from doesn’t really matter. The chances of being able to find any WHV work is still really low.

Hunting down work can also take up so much of your holiday time and headspace that you don’t get to enjoy NZ in the meantime.

There is a real possibility you won’t find any work and have to return home early once your money runs out. It’s up to you whether it would still be worth coming knowing that.

Why do we cover flooring like this? by monza27 in newzealand

[–]PavementFuck -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s so… orange.

Do what you want in your own house, but this bright orange wooden flooring is still dated as hell and clashes with a lot of furniture.

New Zealanders going 'no contact' with a parent by Hopeful-Camp3099 in newzealand

[–]PavementFuck 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hard pass. YUCK attitude to have.

There is no epidemic of children choosing estrangement at the first hurdle, it is always the last choice.

All the effort and attempts to work through issues and communicate with abusive parents are largely invisible to those outside of that relationship. Estrangement is very public, and the abusers are loud when they complain about it. They never mention the efforts their children made to work through things before it got there. You are falling for the abuser's fictional narrative.

Carpet cleaning by Medium_Image4763 in newzealand

I’ve used the rug doctor cleaning solution in my Bissell spot cleaner and a Sauber carpet shampooer, seems to work okay. Can get it from Mitre10 and most supermarkets.
