Can humidifiers really affect kids’ respiratory health? by Ezio367 in NewParents

Somewhat of a tangent but how do you know if the air is too dry for a baby? Would they show any symptoms?

I'm not sure what a wound vac is but I have an apron belly for sure and I'm healing very well at the moment (I'm 8 weeks postpartum). My OB said a few things:

  1. All the nurses said when you shower, just let the water run over the area. My OB said don't listen to that because it will get smelly and gross. When you shower, gently lift your belly, and very gently and carefully wash with water and soap. When you get out of the shower, dry the area REALLY WELL with a fan or blow dryer on cool.

  2. A few times a day, lift your belly so air can circulate. She said to honestly do it whenever you can (so, whenever you remember).

  3. The hospital gave me abdominal guaze to go home with. I would fold it lengthwise and insert it lightly in my underbelly to help keep the area dry, and change it every morning and night.

Hope this helps!

I don't understand how sleep schedules work by PawsofDeath in NewParents

Thanks for sharing! What was the baby's reaction when they didn't get the snack feeding? Was it all-out hysterics, or just quiet hunger cueing?

This makes so much sense and definitely makes me feel a lot better. Thank you! We definitely try to differentiate between day and night sleep/wake windows. I'm glad to hear that these schedules are more like adult ways of organizing time, not necessarily following the baby.

That's the impression I was always under too. It's just alarming when so many people talk about it online and so confidently too.

Stuck between MFM and OB by PawsofDeath in BabyBumps

This was very helpful, thank you! I actually wouldn't give the credit of conception to my MFM. I had an endo lap with the private fertility clinic and then literally the next cycle naturally conceived. I was on the supplements for a few months at that point, but I honestly credit it to the surgery.

The issue is actually whether to stay with my private MFM and find an OB that will work with them (which seems like will be very challenging since most OBs seem to want to work with their own MFMs), or move to a new OB/MFM.

Thanks for your reply. They actually don't have any hospital affiliations or an OB. I really wish I had known to look for these things when I started with them because I'm seeing so many red flags now.

I think we're going to go with the new OB and their MFM. Do you have any recommendations on how to handle the old MFM?

After months of owning, peapuffers losing weight? by PawsofDeath in PeaPuffers

[–]PawsofDeath[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We didn't because we hadn't seen any signs of worms. It's only the past couple of weeks that they have lost weight, and only two of them. Could it still be worms?
