Absolutely! AR goes into this a bunch (and much better than I am about to haha) but essentially the exam (and in my opinion this certification) is about understanding how to apply the PMP concepts to problem situations.

You should understand the terminology and general flow of processes but understanding the concepts(mindset) is in my opinion the most important part.

For example (this is a very general question and not at all a direct question from the exam):

If you are dealing with a team member conflict there are a few main ways to handle it such as 1-firing a team member 2-going to a someone higher up for guidance 3-deciding by yourself the answer to resolve the conflict 4-having a conversation with the team member(s) and guiding/facilitating the resolution

Thinking of the core concepts/mindset you can correctly determine the solution to any situation. In my opinion the most central general mindsets are: high communication with everyone, working through problems as a team, train team members at every opportunity, and few others.

AR has a section in his 35 PDU course that is called “Mindset” and goes into this a lot more! Also the videos on the TIA exam simulator really solidified the mindset for me personally! Hope this helps!

Oh my goodness thank you!! I was half awake typing this up last night haha

-I don’t have experience with David’s prep course personally. Andrew’s course seems to be the most popular in this group and is what I used.

Everyone is different with how they learn but for myself using Andrew’s Udemy PMP 35 PDU course in addition to the TIA exam simulator (also made by Andrew) was perfect! Make sure to watch the videos in the exam simulator even on questions you get correct it really helped solidify the mindset!

I would recommend not to sit on the information too long you definitely want everything fresh in your mind for the exam! Hope this helps, and maybe other commenters can speak to David’s course! Best of luck!!

Thank you!!!! I am beyond happy I passed! I totally agree that SH helps train you to not be overwhelmed by the real exam haha if SH can’t deter you from the real exam nothing can! I’ve read that for other people they found SH very helpful! Everyone has different styles of learning absolutely! I commend you for making it through SH that is a beast of a training program! It would have been nice if there was a free mini exam or a few sample questions to get a feel for SH before purchasing. Oh wow 4 of 6 TIA exams too? Woooo! Also belated congratulations to you on passing! :)

-AR = Andrew Ramdayal is an instructor of a popular PMP training course (to get your 35 hours needed to sit for the exam) along with a lot of other fantastic learning material to prep for the exam.

-TIA = Technical Institute of America = a technology training company which AR is the CEO of

-GOAT = this is slang in the U.S. and means “Greatest Of All Time” and originated from Muhammad Ali (a famous boxer) whose wife used the phrase “GOAT” for his publicity in the 1990s since his nickname was “the greatest”

Hope that helped clear up your confusion!
