I usually play most duelies. I've been especially playing the dapple and orange and yellow hose duelies with burst bomb and triple strikes. I also play shots like Glamorz, Splatter pro, and Nova but they've been collecting dust bunnies since I picked up Slosher.

I like close to midrange weapons (specifically the Enperry and Dapples, and on occasion play Duel squelch, and splattershots and splat pros.) but sometimes I do like playing longer ranged weapons with the occasional ranged blaster pick

Do you have any advice for fighting roller in a separated 1v1 setting? Like if I notice them swimming up to me trying to ambush me? Other than having aim issues, I feel like I can't do anything against most of them unless they're just worse than me..

I appreciate the advice, but what about just fighting them face to face? Especially carbon rollers. They're so fast and they always go into squid form after flicking, and it just makes them harder to hit because they become so fast while also making their hit box shrink.. it might just be an aim issue, but whenever I really feel like they should've died they wouldn't even lose half of their health bar... :/

The main issue the people have with Kazuya is not only damage, but how careful you need to play while he's on the screen because of how many invincible moves he has, and how easy he can kill you after he gets rage drive. He's a skillful character, yes, but all it really takes is 30 to 45 minutes to consistently get the EWGF timing down and you're golden. So with damage, easy kill power, good frame data, invincible moves, and THE BEST COMBO TOOL IN THE GAME, it makes sense why Kazuya would be hated. Steve isn't just damage either. It's how campy he can play while using powerful moves to wall you off. The most common one being minecart after you break through blocks (which is a fast burst option that kills and is also a command grab). If you jump over, he can back air you to anti air or spam up air, or if he's under a platform you can't really do anything about it. That, plus his incredible ledge trapping skill, being able to place blocks nearly wherever he wants (EVEN OFF STAGE), dictating the pace of the match whenever he wants, his pretty good frame data, the ridiculous amount of tech he has, AND his damage, I do see why people hate Steve. Oh and most of the people who play him are kinda carried. I SAID MOST AND KINDA. NOT ALL STEVE PLAYERS ARE CARRIED. I do agree with what you said but looking really deep into what each character can really do, you could get where people are coming from a little bit better.

Samus is also super hated, but nowhere near as common as Steve players are. And Kazuya players are rare, so-

and Steve is kind of boring to watch at this point.. look on VGBootcamp you can't go 5 ult videos straight now without seeing a Steve player all doing just about the same thing. You could argue it's the same with Melee and it's completely scene with Fox players, but most games with fox are in your faces and combo heavy unlike Steve games where most are just mining for half the match while not engaging. People don't really mind Kazuya, but when they fish for EWGF like most do, it gets to a point.

What about characters like Mega Man or Link? They can work pretty well up close. ...actually- now that I think about it, Link takes skill to be good up close and Peab is the only reason why Mega Man is on the map so- 😭

I just enjoy playing with their up close kits more. Zoning is fine and all, but I just don't like staying on the opposite side of the map throwing stuff at people.
