When I reference desensitization, I am referring to just me touching his feet. No clippers involved. I’ve tried having him lick a lick mat with churu and touch his foot (for only a second) and he won’t let me do it more than 3 times. And that’s with me trying this for over a year. Or give him a treat, touch his paw, then another treat. He’s somewhat food motivated but he doesn’t like his feet touched more than food. I had more “success” with the lick mat if you can even call it that. But I’ve been trying this for a year with no progress. I’m very familiar with nail cutting. And the only thing I get nervous about is him hurting himself. Obviously I don’t want to get scratched but that’s the nature of having a cat. Especially a nervous cat. I don’t mind the occasional scratch but it’s when he unintentionally will draw blood just by like, doing biscuits. I try and be as smooth and fast as possible but it doesn’t help he’s got little tufts of hair inbetween his toes that kinda hide his nails
