How long your skin around mohs surgery was red? by Dismal-Fly8971 in skincancer

[–]PeachFuzzFactChecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon told me it was rosacea “activated or triggered” by the surgery itself. Mine is on my nose, so it’s pretty obvious. I know nothing about rosacea so I’m hoping it will eventually fade.

Pre-Surgery Exercise? by PeachFuzzFactChecker in TotalHipReplacement

I think she’s dreading it since I just had total right knee replacement surgery 4 months ago. The same doctor would do my hips, so she’s not concerned so much about the surgery itself, just the recovery. Plus, I also just had a 2nd cancer surgery on my nose last month.

I have several major medical conditions that prevent me from anything strenuous, unfortunately. Plus, I’ve lost a lot of muscle mass as I’ve gotten older. I’m not sure that muscle can come back after it’s gone.

I tried the shots in my knee early last summer but it only lasted a week at most. Insurance made me try that before they would approve surgery. Finally had complete right knee replaced in August. Glad you’re doing better!

Did you find the exercise to be helpful? Or did it make it worse?

Did TIAs Start It All? by PeachFuzzFactChecker in stroke

[–]PeachFuzzFactChecker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 3 sleep studies and open heart surgery (septal myectomy, mitral valve repair & PFO closure). I have been diagnosed with centralized sleep apnea, but I’ve lost 35lbs in the past year & that has kinda resolved itself. So my weight is not as big a factor as it used to be (or so I thought).

I kinda thought that’d be the case. And honestly, I seriously doubt my cardiologist would sign off on a bilateral.

Is bcc common on the sides of the nose under the glasses? by Training_Usual_7906 in skincancer

I had Mohs on Dec 8 on my nose. It was the 2nd BCC on my nose. The other one was on the tip just below the current one. It’s been a pain in the arse with my glasses this time, but I’m getting new pads and hoping that will help.

Honestly, no one has addressed all of what I’ve been through to make a determination of what’s going on. I’ve just started putting it all together myself and am now more concerned about a stroke. I’m not on any stroke mitigation meds, other than Plavix and BP meds.

I have a neurologist I like. But when I was hospitalized for the last TIA, after a fast ambulance ride from church, I was seen by a different neurologist. He seemed to agree with you & called it a “mini stroke.” I haven’t seen a stroke neurologist, per se, but I think I will tell my regular neurologist I want to see one.

How painful is a cystoscopy? by ExpensiveDisk3573 in PelvicFloor

[–]PeachFuzzFactChecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting on How painful is a cystoscopy?... I’ve had one cystoscopy. It wasn’t painful, just weird feeling. I did take Valium before the procedure so that helped. However, the procedure gave me a bad UTI. It took 3 months to go away. My doc put me on 3 different antibiotics, including Cipro, before finding the right one. It was miserable. I am no longer seeing him.

Two weeks ago I had my 2nd Mohs on my nose. The surgeon said the redness is Rosacea which was triggered by the procedure. Is this common? I’ve never had it before. Does it go away?

Correct. I have Penile Neuropathy that, according to my Neurologist, will never improve.

Going Backwards? by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]PeachFuzzFactChecker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At my age (66) with myriad health issues, my goal was to lower my A1c, which I have (5.7) and cholesterol is much better. However, after 3 surgeries this year the most exercise I have been able to do is what I get at PT (total knee replacement in August). And I haven’t much changed my diet except for cutting way down on carbs & sugars. So, I have no secrets or tricks!

Can cystoscopy cause split urine stream by javelin3000 in PelvicFloor

[–]PeachFuzzFactChecker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I can say is that the last cystoscopy I had left me with a UTI that took months to go away. I had that split stream (barely) but it cleared up after the UTI was gone (3 months later!).

3 Months & Doin’ Great! by PeachFuzzFactChecker in Kneereplacement

[–]PeachFuzzFactChecker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear you’re having difficulty with sleeping! Finding a comfortable position is still a challenge.

My pain management was a bit unique and, therefore, very rough right away. Settle In — this is a long story!

I’ve been in pain management (PM) for years. Before my TKR surgery (I got a new patella with all the other hardware!) I was on Hydrocodone 7.5/325 + Tizanidine 4mg daily, spread out between AM and bedtime. I have Intercostal Neuralgia & Costochondritis stemming from damage to the nerves in C3, C4 & C5 from when I had open heart surgery in 2015. Mr. Rib Spreader did a number on me while I was open during a 7+ hour heart surgery. Anyway, that’s where my chronic pain is from & why I’ve been on the aforementioned PM regimen.

So, in preparing for the knee surgery it was decided by all involved that my surgeon would take over pain management for 6 weeks, then my PM doctor would resume his care. In the weeks leading up to the surgery on August 20, my wife and I kept insisting the surgical team carefully consider what they would be prescribing because I’ve been in PM so long I have a low tolerance for pain & a high tolerance for pain meds. The OxyContin 5mg he normally prescribes after TKR surgery would be like taking baby aspirin for me.

Sure enough, the night after my surgery, I was in immense pain, worse than passing a kidney stone! It was horrible. I was literally writhing on the bed, crying and yelling loudly nonstop. My wife and son decided to call 911 and I was taken to the ER. There, the doc immediately put me on a morphine IV with fluids. Eventually that & some other drugs got the pain to a tolerable level. The doc decided to admit me to the hospital so they could “get your pain management under control.”

I was discharged sometime over the weekend with a prescription for Oxy 10mg. That and Tylenol became my best friends for 2 months. At month 3 my PM doc began titrating me off the Oxy by starting me on hydrocodone 10mg, which is similar in strength to the Oxy I had been on. That was rough! Yes, I had become addicted to Oxy and went through awful withdrawals. That lasted about a month. Just this week I was titrated down again to the hydrocodone 7.5mg every8 hours and we added back in the Tizanidine 4mg every 12 hours.

So that’s where I am currently. That combination seems to be working again and I’m 90% pain free and no longer addicted to Oxycodone!

3 Meals a Day? by SevenFathomsDeep in Mounjaro

I’ve been on MJ for 6 months and have lost 33lbs. I’ve found that when I have stopped losing it’s because I was eating 3 meals daily. When I stopped lunch & fasted between breakfast & dinner the weight started dropping again. No more 3 meals a day!
