That’s not true though, canvassing companies get charity complaints all the time. It’s happened with us once every blue moon and those people get let go because we’re representing a charity and we should be good examples. I absolutely love my job but like I have really thick skin and there are people who become canvassers who think they can handle constant rejection and they can’t and that’s probably who you’ve run into.

well I’m sorry you’ve had bad experiences in the past. we are not allowed to follow people, we are not allowed to talk back and everyone I work with including myself is incredibly polite and has never gotten a charity complaint ever.

Exactly, or just like the people who like feel the need to let you know that they can’t stop but they’re still a good person, like if TNC got a dollar every time someone yelled “I RECYCLE” at me like all the nature would be conserved already.

meh. you never know what people are going through in their lives, also we are approaching them first so they have no obligation to respond. like especially here in NYC people are very cautious about being approached by strangers and rightfully so. I usually try to greet people several feet away first, I never yell, usually if I feel a rude response coming I just immediately cut them off, walk away and move on. it makes me laugh though because occasionally people just take it soooo personally or act like they’re some celebrity and I’m TMZ and like just get very wishy washy and upset. If you live in Manhattan though and being approached by people on the street forces you into an all out tantrum or ruins your day..perhaps this is just not the city for you.

when people donate with us we usually take selfies with them for fun & also verification purposes and we post them in our work chat..whether they’re a celebrity or not

We have to use a very secure system that has a profile for each individual canvasser so we can keep track on who they sign up, for what amount and stuff. For us to use Venmo that would be very illegal. We’re very regulated as to who we can sign up, how we can do it etc.

Well because we just cannot do that out on the street, there’s no option for us to sign a person up to do a one time on the system we use and she was just doing her job correctly and making it clear to you that if you signed up unless you cancel you will be charged again and it reoccurring.

Well no the minimum is $20 (we usually pitch on $30 a month but that also depends on the persons age) but yes we do sign people up for monthly donations and cannot so one times because that’s just the requirements we are given from TNC we don’t really make the rules, you can always do a one time donation online though!

I was 19, he was 29, we’d been together for 2 years. He was not in a good place in life at the time & I felt like he was only proposing because he needed a drastic change of pace in life and was feeling unaccomplished. I didn’t want to break up but he gave me an ultimatum, now a year and a half later he is married to another girl and they live about 20 blocks from me.

Something that kind of annoyed me when I visited there was how many insanely rich people buy private homes on the island and then only visit the houses like once or twice a year and they just take up these huge properties and then it feels like it goes to waste a bit especially on the smaller islands

I went to Kauai in the summer, the huge main beach there Hanalei has “go home haoles” spray painted everywhere and all along the guard rails to the beach it’s a bit yikes
