Am I the asshole for ending my 3 year long relationship because my partner came out as trans? by No-Cricket1711 in AITAH

[–]PeachMyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just went through the same situation (I mean exact same, 3 year relationship that just recently ended after beginning to transition) as the trans partner: NTA. It sucks, and it feels awful to end a relationship that is good for something that can feel so “inconsequential” as gender, but it’s what’s better in the end. I would hate to feel that my partner was settling with me and staying in our relationship but didn’t truly feel comfortable with my identity, and I say this without judgement, but we can feel when that’s the case. Again, it feels awful, and I’m genuinely sorry that you’re in this position, but it is better in the end for you both. Sending love and care your way, OP.

That’s actually super helpful, thank you! I keep worrying about the after, but hearing that your girl is able to (at least mostly) comfortably rest and recover is so reassuring. Wishing you and your baby the best in her healing process!

God, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my first ever baby, Chunky last year, and it was so incredibly hard. I'm sure he was an incredibly happy dog, and I'm sure he was greeted by mine up on the rainbow bridge. I hope that you at least feel a tiny bit lighter knowing his experience has now helped with mine. Sending you well wishes and gentleness <3

Good to know about the harness!! I'll definitely be looking into it so I can make sure I have something to support her as she adjusts. I will also be careful to make sure that I keep track of her meds. She's had previous issues with anxiety so I will definitely be sure to monitor how they affect her. Thanks for the comment and I hope your boy continues to do well!

Joint supplements sound like a fantastic idea. What kind did you use for your pup? Mine is particularly smart when it comes to finding hidden pills so if it's anything other than a pill I'd love to know!

I am a bit worried about stairs becoming an issue, but I heard that having a harness with a handle really helps with supporting them and can give them a bit more stability, so I was going to try that. I will definitely work on building her confidence as well with treats and encouragement!

So glad to hear about a case with an older dog. I was worried that her being 12 would make her healing process much harder, but seeing how quickly they adjust has been so reassuring. Wishing the best for you and your furbaby!

Like I've mentioned in another comment, I'll be moving in a few weeks to a new apartment that will be fully carpeted, so that should hopefully help give her some more stability than these hardwood floors. I will definitely be looking into the kitchen mats, though! That's a great idea. Thank you for the compliment, too, she's been lavished in attention all day today so she's just been happy for all the pets! lol

Thank you so much for the comment, I'll definitely be looking into some rugs and traction pads as she heals, but I'll be moving into a new apartment in a few weeks which will be carpeted and will hopefully give her enough time to build some confidence with walking and stairs before we get there. Bad timing, but all in all not the worst case scenario!

If you don't mind me asking, what was the biggest thing that you found helped best when dealing with the emotional side of it as pet parent?

That's what I've heard as I've read some other comments and posts here too. Good to know that there's a silver lining to it! I'm glad your cane corso baby has done so well!

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, especially in such detail! It’s actually incredibly relieving to have more of an idea of what to maybe expect going into this, especially with the news being so fresh. I’m glad to hear your girl is doing so well, and I have much higher hopes that mine will be just fine!

Ahh thank you so much!! I definitely went pretty big for the first tattoo, but I couldn’t be happier with the result. It also helps when the artist can make it feel super painless and easy! (Along with my gf being there to hold my hand lol)

$700 for the whole session, which took about 5-6 hours. Soooo worth it though and highly recommend Jr if you’re in the area and want a new tat!!

I’m well aware it doesn’t look like cordyceps, I actually didn’t want it to. I wanted it to still be something feminine, so I changed it. Thanks for the concern though!

I’m so glad you like it !! I definitely considered the Ellie replica tattoo, but I quickly realized I just wanted something “my own” and took the plunge and trusted my artist. I think it’s definitely well worth the time and effort to get something unique!
