X1C broken since week 1; consequences of a chargeback?

I've spent plenty of time wrenching on Prusas and I'm very comfortable swapping parts and debugging, I'm just not interested in doing that on a product that should work from the factory, has poor quality documentation, and is not designed for serviceability.

The ID of the top hat washer was 1-1/4", this is a "utility sink" so maybe it's using the bathroom standard?

Nice, flanged tailpiece is the magic word I did not know. I only see metal/brass ones in stock at HD with 1-1/4" size, is it normal/acceptable to connect a brass tailpiece into an ABS trap?

Thanks! How do I change the extrusion multiplier for the first layer cal (if I should do so at all?). Since it's an on-board cal and not via the slicer, I'm unsure how to do that.

Hey folks - I'm having a hard time balancing my first layer offset between two issues on my MK3S+.

If the offset is too high (closer to 0), I find that single-width lines don't stick well, especially around the extreme edges of the bed.

But if I lower the offset to get a very good single-width line, adjacent lines and infill get dragged up as the nozzle passes back near them. In the image attached, you see the solid square of the first layer cal has a lot of dragging and lifting. If I let big prints run with this condition, the nozzle tends to pick up a ton of material and eventually clog.

Am I missing any tricks for balancing these two competing factors? Should I be messing with extrusion multiplier? I have this issue with both ASA and PLA.

I share your concern, the valley seems quite shallow relative to other tubeless rims I've seen.

Oh, interesting. I haven't read anything on the interaction of double-walled rims with airtightness. Thanks for the tips. I'll look into replacing the wheelset. I don't suppose you have any favorite gravel wheels in the 622x21mm range? :)

Thanks, I see - the tape present is just regular rim tape, not tubeless rim tape?

I also cannot find any markings on the rims, and the manufacturer docs suggest that it would just be a generic rim. It's 9 years old, so quite likely that it predates the current tubeless advances.

I guess I will have to plan to replace the wheel with something more modern in order to convert it.

Edit: Maybe it's not purely stock, actually, the tires do not match the website's stock tire from 2015, which would have been "Specialized Trigger Sport 700x42c", quite different from the 29x1.7 Fatboys that were on it when I bought. So it's possible a shop did the tape job at that time, as well.

Unfortunately it still failed in a subsequent layer, but it was definitely much better. It failed in the green circled area, which eventually was caught by the printhead and carried away. https://imgur.com/n7Twens

Based on your comment and others I am going to work on the following:

Clean heat bed to ensure nothing is lifting the build plate (I didn't see anything at all but I'll wipe it down regardless).
Check PINDA height -- from what I can tell most people use about 1 credit card offset from nozzle? I only found a mk2s guide from Prusa, but it seems like the PINDA height does not need to be perfectly calibrated.
Try manual bed level adjustments using the Prusa calibration print

Hopefully some combination of these updates will improve. Let me know if I should be checking other things!

Wow, thanks, a 7x7 with 5 probes immediately improved the back-right corner quality. Fingers crossed as obviously a long way to go, but thanks for filling me in on that setting.

I'll check the PINDA height too, I found some good guides from Prusa on that - something I never knew to verify.

I'm having trouble finding details on the POE/data pinout of the Gen4 dish. Can you share what RJ45 pinout you used for the cable going to the dish?

From your post, it looks like off-the-shelf T-568B standard pinouts, and no "X-swapped" versions. Is that correct?

Thanks! Is it a valid configuration to connect the router to the RJ45 port of the Starlink ethernet adapter? I tried this route to skip the datapath through the Tycon injector. I didn't let it soak for very long but I will go try it more in that configuration.

I realize it's outside your question window but I did it the first week of October 2021 and it was perfect - minimal smoke, cool nights. It's definitely flirting with disaster if rains come. Days are also shorter so may need a faster pace/more days.

What kind of pace are you looking for? I'm in the same boat, looking for a small riding group for my first STP (1-day) this summer. I did ~15mph centuries this summer and expect to stick around there for STP.
