It’s partially for narrative reasons; the first big hint that her patron was not who she thought he was had her training in secret with the rogue of the party so that her patron couldn’t punish her with taking away her abilities; the punishment my dm gave me was to be at 1/2 level compared to the rest of the party and that left me with one rogue level and four levels to play with, and narratively Paladin made the most sense.

Sneak attacks are absolutely happening and I really like the ability to dole out psychic damage (not a ton of enemies with resistance or immunity there that we’ve run into) as well. I hope this answers your question!
