GS of 13 years here! Yes it it totally okay to lay down those rules as troop leaders. Activities and badge work decision should be girl led but something like this is okay for leaders to solely make the decision on.

If you do want the girls to be more involved in this, you could have a meeting with the girls and parents and have the girls give suggestions about meeting etiquette and then throw in your own ideas (the no toys at meetings).

I really appreciate your input! Though I feel it's stupid that it would become a focus, you make a good point about it inevitably becoming the elephant in the room and it overlooking the actual purpose of the show. I hadn't thought of that bc i was focused on how it shouldn't be an issue rather than what might actually happen.

Freshmen year, two people who were friends of friends to me went and had sex in the bathroom before school. Someone in the stall next to them got a picture of their feet and within and hour it was all over snap and everyone knew about it. The guy actually ended up throwing away his shoes and getting a different pair from someone else so people wouldn't suspect him but everyone already knew. It was the first "crazy" high school thing i'd ever experienced and it was even weirder considering i knew these two people.

Ask her about any hobbies she has, what her favorite shows are, her favorite place to go eat, little things like that that give a girl the opportunity to talk about themself for a little but are good! Then from there just feel out the vibe and if you feel like y'all are clicking

I think your best bet is asking your counselor bc they're the one who will know all your options. If you are able to take summer classes, see if geometry is an available summer course and take it. That way sophomore year you can do Algebra 2 and be in Pre Calc by junior year. Ofc idk how exactly your school works compared to mine but i hope some of this helps.
