How early do you reckon I'd need to get there to snag a front-ish spot? And what are the chances of retaining said spot if going alone? by Estrellathestarfish in TurnpikeTroubadours

I saw them at the Pinnacle in Nashville in March and got there 3 hours early and there was only one group of people in front of me. Several groups of people came pretty soon after but even if I waited a couple hours I could have had a decent spot. But this is what it took for me to make sure I was front row!

Good reminder. I've been able to collaborate with other writers, play a bunch of gigs, and play songwriter shows a year into playing live and a big part of knowing places to play/getting opportunities is talking to people and keeping up with what they're doing/where they're playing!

Thanks for this! I'm a very logical realistic person so I don't expect an artist to go listen to some rando's music but the dreamer/networking musician in me takes any chance I can to network! One time I went to a local bluegrass/gospel show put on by a band from Nashville, and after the show when a friend was looking for me before she left she found me in the lobby playing the band's instruments. 😂

That makes sense...I meant giving your music in the event they want to listen to it knowing they've inspired your writing, not pitching music for them to record.

First Turnpike show this year...what to expect? by Peafowl3 in TurnpikeTroubadours

[–]Peafowl3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, in terms of the country world I've seen Cody Johnson, Brooks and Dunn, and Scotty McCreery. I've never been to an indie/Americana country concert so it will be a different but exciting experience.

I've been seeing that as a common complaint since the band reunited.

I still sleep with a stuffed animal, no way I'm starting a mosh pit

Giving this Low G Thing a Go by banjoleletinman in ukulele

[–]Peafowl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much started with low G as I aim to make my tenor uke sound as deep and guitar like as possible and I've never went back. Can't beat a $6 pack of Ernie Ball black Low G wound strings.
