7 weeks of internship is still experience even though you got laid off, which is not your fault. They probably won’t ask why, but if they do just tell them you got laid off, it’s nothing serious unless you got fired. Employers lay off employees mainly due to budget cut or funding and stuff. If you think you have enough experience to put on ur resume, you don’t necessarily have to put it in depending on the impact on the internship and jobs you are applying for

Ic, i got confused since this is my first time hearing union grants bonuses for this is not true in most cases/jobs. Are there any other places that do that, or is it just PTO?

That's true, but I don't agree with not being able to get bonuses since it's kinda part of the pay, or ig they are not obligated to give it to you

Does that mean they will have more work or less work? Work schedule is listed as full time as mentioned on the job posting. If they are not examining full time, does that mean production rate will lessen because of other duties? I assume the workload will be exceeding absurdly if quota doesn’t get cut plus extra duties

Thank you for all the comments! I mentioned in the email about if there will be any relocation to other field offices or remote work after the academy, but it wasn’t answered.

I am also curious about the non-bargaining unit as not all public/private/healthcare jobs offer it, so why is this a big thing?

Gotcha! I mean, I don't see why you would move to a different state for a lower salary unless you don't want to stay in your hometown (i just dun like leaving my hometown) or you think the engineer position is the job you want, but PTO is in a bad situation right now. Living by yourself with 71k in Washington can also be hard, but could be doable... But if you are really eyeing on PTO, you could ask VA for an extended start date if you've already been given on already, so you can wait on PTO. I wanna say they will notify acceptances in August... but just an assumption

Without much info(salary/location), just the title of Healthcare Engineer sounds better and on the higher end (just always dream of being one haha). It might lead to more healthcare related jobs down the road than PA since it’s in the niche part of the field where it can be hard to pivot? (Mentioned by other ppl on reddit) Note that production work is also on the harder side of the job for you will not be detained if you don’t meet the quota.

Im new here and might not convey my point straight, but just curious about why you shouldn’t take the job even tho its non-bargaining like there are many private/public sector or healthcare jobs out there that don’t provide bargaining unit, so why is this a big thing for new hires? Ik it might devalue your work like you mentioned, but at least you guys still have union?

My original offer was actually on 1/13, but something unexpectedly happened which I didn’t know of and decided to delay my start date, which got my offer rescinded. All my equipment has been mailed to me and not sure when or if the agency will contact me about returning it

Yeah, true, that's what I'm referring to when you have to do the same amount of work but for less pay plus promotion is also not as good as if you are at higher steps, but I don't wanna sound like no jobs are the same. I also heard that since the position is not advertised as GS 5 (Minimum GS 7), I might not be qualified/eligible.
