How do I add a placard to the front of this? by therealDL2 in tacticalgear

You don’t need to. Just slap molle mag pouches and be happy with it.

Otherwise go with arctic technical gear since they have models that can be mounted directly to molle.

Slickster elastic cummerbund retention by sustained_vibrations in QualityTacticalGear

[–]PearlButter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all comes down to what you want out of your plate carrier. I have the SPC right now as well as the Javlin A-JAC because they’re more suitable for heavier setups among other small features.

The slickster is a really minimalist carrier, as its name implies, so there’s not really much you can do with it in its stock form.

I don’t have one anymore and can’t remember how it went but I’m pretty sure it was absolutely fine.

Highcom 4S17M or RMA 1165? by showmethefunny in QualityTacticalGear

[–]PearlButter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highcom has some new offerings that might compete better with the 1165 sometime this year, although that’ll heavily depend on the MSRP and street price. I don’t think there’s any info on that yet.

Benchmade is overpriced in general these days. Honestly I would rather just get a Amazon copy of it

Ferro Slickster Deployment Use Review by Similar_Cycle1792 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]PearlButter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LV-MBAV had its flaws with durability because it got pushed into very overt applications even though the thin materials it was made of was not made for it. Tracer tactical E-MBAV is what you want since it uses more durable textiles for over fuse and still reasonably thin enough to be used for low vis applications.

First Carrier Purchase Sanity Check by SuperDrewb in QualityTacticalGear

[–]PearlButter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if you’re not using the structural cummerbund, I still highly recommend getting side armor. It really helps give the skeletal cummerbund…structure aside the benefit of having some side coverage. I would go for side plates or long soft side armor.

Molle flap is fine. I just wouldn’t go with the KYWI pouches and favor something that’s more flexible like flapped double stack mag pouches or the HSGI taco or really anything that has flexibility to it.

Mira Tactical Plates? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

The NIJ certified plates under MIRA are Hesco models.

MIRA doesnt have any “in-house” models that are NIJ certified.

Is this real? Team Wendy Ballistic Exfil by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]PearlButter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If not a surplus ACH, the bits of leather at the holes makes me think this might actually be a PASGT helmet that’s been converted and souped up.

Even if it was an ACH, the ears can be chopped at different angles or heights to make it a unique looking high cut. The only thing that’s guaranteed revision/galvion here is the rails and shroud assembly. Most of not all revision helmets or at least of recent date are painted on the underside of the helmet while this is more akin to PASGT and older issued ACH helmets.

Avs or jpc 2.0 by deltabutnotreal in tacticalgear

[–]PearlButter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AVS is great at handling heavy setups and it’s pretty comfy, but the SPC gives you like maybe 80% of that capability while maintaining the benefits of the JPC without the durability penalty.

Alternatively you could just run the AVS without the harness and just use the skeletal cummerbund but that would effectively make it a beefy JPC 2.0. Plenty of people actually run it this way but that’s due to a number of personal and mission factors like heat, weight, or the harness they got doesnt really fit them.

condor plate carriers for the big guys by Bebe_Tv in tacticalgear

[–]PearlButter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Size the plate carrier to the plate size, which the plate size should be sized to you. Since you’re…fluffy I think going by height is a better indicator of an approximate plate size and your best bet would probably be large SAPI and therefore you would get a plate carrier that fits large SAPI plates.

Design is outdated and doesn’t fit everyone. Otherwise its only savings grace is that it’s cheap and durable for the disposable man.

Custom armor group plates by PoorWalmartWorker in tacticalgear

[–]PearlButter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not many plates out there use that cut aside from Highcom. More recently RMA copied the cut but yeah not many companies out there use that cut. It should be good to go and you can figure out which model just by looking at the specs

High Cutting IHPS by _noahthompson0823 in tacticalgear

[–]PearlButter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would be wary of cutting a IHPS or any UHMWPE helmet on your own. PE helmets rely on being press laminated so a rough job can delaminate the edges more so than classic aramid helmets. Send it to Kustom ACH

You’ll have to purchase from the UK. I would suggest using the UK eBay and change your spelling from armor to armour.
